1,000 miles sounds like a lot, but this game doesn't count real mileage. To test it, I drove a longer race that took me about 7 minutes, and I got credit for just over 30 miles. I definitely wasn't going 250 miles an hour, so I know the game gives you credit for more than actual miles driven.
