A solo game is not just a game that you play by yourself -- you must set it up under the Options menu. The difference between a solo game and a standard game is that you build score multipliers for strings of correct answers in a solo game, up to 10x your answer score.
I just happened across the Solo Game option today when looking under the Options menu after several frustrating long games without coming close to 300,000 points. After setting the Option at solo game, I pulled in a score of 600,000 on my first run, a far cry from the scores of 120,000 I was getting under a standard game. If you have the DLC, you can get both Home Alone and Formidable Opponent with a score over 330,000 if you are using a mix of questions from the DLC and the base-game (both popped at the same time in my game).
If you are having trouble getting a high enough score, I have two bits of advice
1) Take your time when answering if you are unsure -- a wrong answer will re-set your score multiplier, while a right answer delivered late will get low points for that question, but will preserve or enhance your multiplier for the next question.
2) With repeated plays you will see some of the same questions and question patterns come up. Do your best to remember what you have missed to get the right answer on later plays. |
