There are 23 time trial tracks so you need to get 2 stars on at least 13 of them if you're not going to bother with 3 stars. Not too hard. My advice is to download the ghost of someone who has beaten the 2 star time by a second or so to learn the good routes. Don't download the ghosts for the fastest times, they're always crazy.
