With the latest Title Update (Update 6), a new Xbox Live game type has been released. It now has an option for "Social Xbox Live". Playing this still counts as a public session but will implement bots in place if human players (providing none are found during matchmaking).
If you experience lag or don't have a great internet connection this is a useful game mode to get any public achievements.
Simply go to Multiplayer and select Social Xbox Live. Choose Wingman as your game type and start the matchmaking process. With any luck you won't find other players and all other positions will be filled with bots (since these are generally easier then human players). You will also get host so no lag if this happens.
Score 15 points to win the game and repeat 3 times.
NOTE: If playing with other players you will get the full experience that you would in Ranked. If playing only against bots you will only get a certain amount for winning. You ALSO REQUIRE ALL MAP PACKS to play this mode. |

Doing this legitimately can be easier than you think.
I am only at a level 7 online, and I was paired up with players who were level 35, 52, 46 etc. - much more than me.
This technique is how all novice players should play multiplayer online in these gametypes - it allows for you to see how the better players play, and also allows you to rack up some points with downs, revives, and kills. Your partner should be getting the majority of the kills using this method, but you will definitely get some as well.
And so what I did was I became a shadow of my partner, the better player, and covered him as he took the initial chances. If he went for the flamethrower and then was rushed by an opponent, I would shoot that guy with the shotgun to buy my partner time. If he was involved in a close fight, I would flank and shoot or melee the other guy with the shotgun. And if my partner was downed, I am right there to finish the opponent off and revive him.
If a two-man team came at us, I would try to kill one of them and he would try to kill the other, and if one of us kills our guy, or downs our guy, we can then go help our partner out, 2-on-1 is better odds. And sure, sometimes this wouldn't work and one or both of us would get killed, and that is the breaks.
With this technique I got the Wingman achievement in 5 games. |

Win 3 matches as stated (ranked or social).
DO NOT camp too much while doing this achievement. Most people who aren't good at wingman tend to camp in safe locations, but this is the worst way to get the achievement. To be blunt, when you camp, the better players rack up kills and the game will end before you can catch up, so DO NOT CAMP. Also, stay as close to your teammate as possible and work together. That may seem obvious, but many gears players like to go the lone warrior route, and if you are good enough to actually do that, then you should have no problem with this achievement, and you wouldn't be reading this.
This has gotten harder to do though as more casual gamers leave the game, since many of the better gamers do seem to congregate in the wingman playlists (ranked at least), but keep playing and it should come eventually even if you aren't very good at wingman... (it took me about 20 matches when the game came out, and I was moderately good at it at the time, so gauge your time from there)
A teammate you know also helps relieve the tension if you do get your butts kicked a lot :P
And if all else fails, blame the lag... seriously, half the gears players will anyway
***I say don't camp, but that doesn't mean that when it comes down to a 2 versus 2 situation situation that you can't camp, just don't expect to do it the whole time. |

I hate this one. as of now, i haven't popped this cheevo.
if you can get 5 teams in the same lobby, you're golden. should take 1/2 hour for all 10 boosters. however, this is harder than it sounds
suggestions:
1. friend up with a few people in the boosting party to facilitate invites and chatting. prefer everyone in the party if you can.
2. don't even try until team duos are established. use an extra controller as a guest player if you haven't got ten boosters.
3. search for a match with all bots (or fellow boosters) so you know you're hosting. remember the host can end it at any time.
4. get every team on the same map and you're good. hog up all the bot slots with guest controllers or a random will drop in and ruin everything.
Why this can be so hard:
A. it can take a long time to get this organised, and even boosters who sign up for a three hour session will quit after twenty minutes if they aren't prepared to wait for a successful setup scenario. frustrating.
B. you probably wont get anywhere if you have a team of randoms. remember, you can't kick players, and most people still playing this game legit are probably very skilled. I've boosted three different 3 hour sessions without getting this cheeve cuz the randoms were so good. even bots can wipe out 4 teams of boosters if you're bad like me.
C. if you do play with randoms in the room, gang-up (obviously), but be prepared to kill each other to deny randoms the kills. if you can gather without being killed by the random team, you can get 6 kills, which will eventually win the match.
C. matchmaking seems very dicey. i don't know if this is because of geography or what, but sometimes one team wont find the match. try switching who invites the second/searches for the session. try switching teammates.
D. the party chat only hold 8 so if you manage to get 10 together, communicate properly.
E. ask a random that wont leave if they will cooperate. most wont. |

OK i have an easier way. basically the same as the other solutions. but bots are still kinda hard to kill, and it probobly works best for people, with low bandwidth.
but where it is different is:
1. turn on your Xbox go to social.
2 then go to your computer and download a large file(s) from the internet, or something that uses allot of bandwidth for along period of time.
3.start social matchmaking.
4. you'll notice that if your using most of your bandwidth that you'll always get bots instead of other people connecting to your match.

this works for me cause i only have 1Mb per second internet, might not work with you guys with premium internet connection |

In my own opinion, this is the 2nd hardest online achievement to earn. This achievement requires you to win 3 online matches of Wingman. Wingman requires a lot of skill, and unless you have a trusty partner to help, you will be a piece of meat and useless! Your best bet in earning this achievement is finding a partner or a friend who plays excellent at Gears, and get lucky!
Wingman is a game mode in which you will team up with another partner (A.I or Human) who is the same character as yourself, E.G: If your a Marcus, your partner's a Marcus! Your goal is to eliminate the other 4 teams in the arena! The last survivor/s win the round! You get 1 point per kill and 1 point if you survive the round! The first team to reach 15 points wins! Now in this game mode, the only person you can trust is your partner, as anyone on any team and shoot and kill for points. This means that a Marcus and Dom whom are orginally on a COG Team can go against each other! The same applies for the Locust Team as well for instance a Drone can go against a Kantus!
Tip 1: Always stick together in this game mode as if one of you gets downed, you can only get revived by your partner!
Tip 2: If you think the fight isn't fair, stay out of it, until you think it's clear to head into the arena and take on a battle!
Tip 3: Be warned that this game mode can get extremely laggy in ping connection! |

First things first, I hated getting this achievement.
If you want all bots I suggest playing Social Wingman at around 5am your local time for the best chance, the rest of the time I was always matched up with people (who were often at level 100) even when I tried limiting my internet connection as another solution stated.
The key is learning where the powerful weapons are for each map - although the bots are tough, they won't race for power weapons in the same way that humans do.
You should be able to get hold of them and this will almost guarantee you 2-3 easy kills per round. Then, either stick with your partner to round up the remaining bots or hang around until the weapon respawns. |
