You must kill the tank without assistance. You will need 3 players with you who will not shoot it or use other weapons against it. Bots will attack it and ruin your chance for the achievement.
Your best shot is do it on easy with other players and I recommend that your loadout be a molotov cocktail to sap it's HP and the hunting rifle, as it does the most damage per shot (shotgun requires you to be too close and reloads too slow).
I found it most helpful when the Tank focused on another player allowing me to get in close with the auto-shotgun I had.
The attached video has a guide on how to do it in single player (but it's always more fun with freinds ;) ).
Another strategy to use is play Death Toll level 5 on easy and get to the end. Have everyone (all players) get on the rock at the far end of the beach. When the tank comes you throw a cocktail at it and shoot it until it dies. If it tries to throw a rock at you have everyone shoot the rock, not the tank.

this method might take a while, but i thought i would post so people could have another alternative.
Solo, turn on full captions, on no mercy, sewers (1-3):
1. expert team-kill the AI team
2. change to easy and run through the alley and cafe into the open area.
3a. if there is no tank notification, change to expert and die to restart the level. go back to 1.
3b. if there is a tank notification, run straight back to the safe room and close the door. the tank will come and you can shoot it through the door at your leisure. stand away from the door. |

Hey guys i have a solution for this achieve that can be done with the bots still alive.
The 1st vid is from our expert guide (see "something to prove" ahievement) so will be easily done on easy. however it does require 2 players or controlers. In the vid watch from 6.48 to see how it is done. the angle that the tank is to the bots means it will not be able to be shot by them. this area is part 2 of the death toll campain.
the 2nd vid is not a guide but well worth a watch. It is also taken from our expert guide and takes the sence man VS tank to the extreme! 1 man on expert and only 10 heath! when doing it i was so surprised that not only did i win but also finnished the level.
