The biggest tip i can give for completing this (and the Japanese campaign) on veteran is to ensure you unlock every single unit as you progress through the game. Not only will this give you more powerful units later on (the yamato battleship being essentially god!) it will also give you bonus units which make the harder missions much easier. To unlock these units you need to get the gold medal on each mission. To get the gold you need to complete all the primary, secondary and hidden objectives. I used to find all the objectives in advance and the site is also great as a general walkthrough for each mission. Obviously to get the veteran achievement you need to complete each mission on veteran. So start the first mission (Pearl Harbour) on veteran and finish it. If you don't get the gold medal, replay the same mission but on Rookie untill you get the gold. Never move onto the next mission untill you get the golds (and when you do, remember to set the difficulty back to veteran for the next mission). It can be a pain repeating missions but having an extra submarine in the later missions feels like cheating, that's how much easier this method makes the game. My only other tips for veteran are to take each mission very very slowly. I was tempted to zerg rush so many times but it always ends in failure. This is more of a simulator type game than a 'rush rush bang bang' game. You have got to be patient and methodical. Hope this helps and if it doesn't i can't recomend the linked walkthrough site enough. It got me through the game.
