On Commando difficulty, again, any hits will kill you (although you can handle a single shockwave blast), and the Mohole regains lots of health very quickly when it falls. It can be difficult to not run out of ammo, and the video strategy above will not work well. You'll likely have to fight it a few times to get the timing on the run-gun-grab move down (keep reading).
Start by staying on the outer edge of the lot, waiting until it opens it's eye thing to attack you, and then picking up and throwing a car at it before it fires. I start with the cars on the far left since the worm knocks them off the cliff not too long into the fight otherwise. Repeat this two more times and start running in towards it when you're sure the third car will make contact. When it falls, immediately start gunning (keep running!) at its face with the heaviest weapon you have (Bulldog is best) until you get close enough to grab it and perform a Death From Above (Y+B). Immediately grab the weapon drop (either a Bulldog or an SMG) and make a break for the closest tree (there are two on opposite sides of the lot).
This is phase two, when the boss starts to attack you, shoot it with your pistol or throw cars, but when it straightens out and does the shockwave attack grab a high tree limb, zip and wait until the attack is over before returning to the ground. Play this second phase of the battle slowly and cautiously. You'll get one more weapon drop before it's over, the second weapon seems to always be the Bulldog. If you need it, get it and get back to the tree.
You'll have to finish it off with a Death From Above move, so save your heavy ammo until it falls to the ground for a second time. Conserve your ammo! Throw cars whenever possible, and be ready to unload on it's head and get close enough to grab it when it falls or it will only be a matter of time before you're back at the checkpoint. |
