Read Knuckles555's solution. It's awesome.
However, there's a comment by Illum1na that should really be seen by those looking to get this achievement.
I played all six playthroughs and barely had enough gold for the next-to-last upgrade. Time to go farming!
Level 9 will net you a decent amount of gold, but it gets grindy real quickly, especially with the four puzzles where it feels like you're just standing around waiting.
I used Illum1na's method as well as level 9, and I think the former went by much faster. Load level 12 Conclusion on Casual. The Little Giant will drop a toy soldier at the beginning. Kill him and take his sword. You need this sword! Dodge a couple traps and Little Giant will drop two more soldiers, this time lucid, cork-shooters. Attack them from the right side so you don't accidentally stick Little Giant in the eye. The boss fight will not progress. At all. He'll simply keep dropping more soldiers. Use your RT move anytime it's full, since it will fill up again soon.
Your main goal is to collect the bright green rolling jewels. Everything else is secondary.
Once you get around 400,000 the game will start to slow down because of all the cork shooters lying around. At around 800,000 it will start to crawl to a halt. I suggest farming about 700,000 or so, and then finish off Little Giant and do it again. If you die while fighting him (I did!), just respawn quickly and run after your dropped money. Then continue on.
I was surprised how quickly this went with Illum1na's method. You'll be fully upgraded and probably done with this game before you know it. =) |

To upgrade your statue use the purple book in the middle of Taleville which is conveniently right next to your soon to be statue.
In total, this achievement will cost 5,275,000 gold, and there are a total of 13 Statue upgrades whose costs are listed below:
1) 2,500
2) 5,000
3) 7,500
4) 10,000
5) 25,000
6) 50,000
7) 75,000
8) 100,000
9) 250,000
10) 500,000
11) 750,000
12) 1,000,000
13) 2,500,000
Chances are you will not amass this amount of gold on your first, let alone third, play through so the best way to get the gold is to replay level 9 on casual difficulty. Each time you play level 9 you should come out 300,000 - 450,000 richer (no boss and easy to avoid traps).
Also to save time on level 9 when you get to the last set of gates with the three seals you should notice that it is glitched and you do not need to press down all of the seals. Simply line up the path and walk through the already opened gate. |
