I had a bit of trouble finding one gold chest. Once you buy the sub, get in and go just to the right of the thing you're building to unlock the bonus level. There is a sub door\hanger thing. Go in to start the treasure level. This was driving me nuts for half and hour or so, so I thought I'd post my findings.
