There isn't much to this achievement skill wise, I got it shortly after entering heresy. If you keep playing through the story you will get it.
You don't have to collect 60,000 souls into your bank as such, so feel free to spend them on upgrades.

Easiest way to get souls is to absolve the shades through the game. Hit the appropriate buttons on the cross when you need to so you can get as many bonus souls as possible. Also when you damage an enemy enough, you can hit RT and have a choice to punish or absolve, always absolve if you want the achievement. Smashing white fountains also gives you souls. I got this when I reached the river of styx so roughly halfway through the story you could have it.

Something to note is that playing on lower challenge levels gives you signifigantly more souls for regular demon kills (maybe 30% more or so). It doesn't make a lot of sense, but I guess they just wanted to make easy mode REALLY easy.
