Just like in the movie 300, you need to kick the enemies off of ledges with the knock down move. This move is executed using Y.

There are plenty of opportunities to use it in the game but during the Garden level is perfect as there are many platforms with a huge group of enemies on them to kick off. I find doing it when you have the sand skeletons that spawn more around much quicker :) Just keep kicking them off of the edge of the platform and it will unlock.
