The place is Tall Trees. Once you see snow on the ground start roaming around on foot that way the bears won't kill your horse if they attack you. It will only take two hits from the bear to kill Marston but one to kill your horse. A good place is bearclaw camp. set yourself up on a rock or building or even a cart.

I recommend using the Buffalo rifle (level 5 hunter challenge required to purchase.) Use dead eye and hit it right in the face, it will go down in one hit. Alternatively a semi-auto shotgun works well or any fast firing repeater. I was able to get this in only two trips. At times the amount of bears and boars I was encountering was overwhelming so you will want to set up a campsite from your provisions menu (back button on 360 controller) that way you can save so you don't lose your progress if you die. SAVE OFTEN! Happy hunting

people can track both the number of bears they've killed (miscellaneous stats) and skinned (under collectibles). thank you to The Major Gm for this helpful tip.

Acquire one of the taller horse carts. Bears (and everything else) won't attack you or the horses while you're on the cart. It's slow riding when you're off the road, but if you wait in the Tall Trees long enough, you'll see bears, big horn, elk and everything else you may need. Just ride the cart up to the dead animal, hop off the cart to skin the animal then quickly hop back on.

Okay this one is pretty simple, once you have gained access to 'The North' in the Third Act, you will want to ride to Tall Trees located West of Blackwater, Great Plains and Beecher's Hope (which is the Marston family farm.) By this stage in the game you will likely have a weapon which can easily deal with the bears, I used the Henry Repeater as it has 12 shots and is powerful enough to kill a bear in two shots, take plenty of ammo. Zoom in to Tall Trees on your map and place a waypoint on (believe it or not...) the bear!

- I never found a bear at night so start the hunt in the day.
- STAY on your horse for an easy getaway if necessary.
- After every 1 or 2 kill & skins use your campfire and save!
- Save 2 or 3 times so the game clock rotates to daytime again.
- Don't forget you're Dead Eye!

Good luck and enjoy the whopping 5G

The fastest way to get this achievement is to look at the map and right where it says Tall Trees there is a grouping of rocks to the immediate left, when you arrive you find it is a small cliff. Get ready, this is where the bears seem to spawn exactly as I was able to get all 18 in this one area alone.

Be aware however as they do spawn here when you get off your horse to skin them more are coming and they will come up to 2 at a time so be quick and be prepared to die a couple of times as you will get ambushed.

A good idea is to save at Manzanita Post right before you go out so you can just respawn there if you happen to die and then use the campsite to save frequently after you get every 4 or 5 kills.

Good Huntin'

Any of the above mentioned locations are good ones. My best spot for this was in the woods just outside the dock at Aurora Basin.

I stayed in the same little area and the bears came at me, one at a time, after I finished skinning the last.

The weapon I used was the Throwing Knife, which WILL one-shot a bear in the head.

TIP: I used the Throwing Knives on all the "special hunt" animals and one-shotted all of them as well with the exception of the boar, which required three knives.

go to the most northern point on the map above tall trees. its a good place to kill beavers as well. a bear will appear shortly. kill it and hang out. The bears are attracted to the dead bears. make sure you have plenty of ammo and shoot the in the head for quicker kills. Dont worry about skinning them right away because more will appear and grab you. Got this achievement in under & mins just hanging out.
