The earliest you can get this achievement is during Chapter 8 when you are taking one of the "Greasers" hot rods to Derek. Take the car to a body shop and upgrade the performance twice. Then go to the big bridge that connects the two pieces of land found in the center. If you travel as fast as you can, you shouldn't have a problem hitting 125.

Before you attempt this, check that the unit measurements in your game statistics page are in miles ("Imperial"). If not, change it by using options->game settings.

You'd need a fast car for this one. The Ascot Bailey that you get from Leo in Chapter 11 will come in handy.

After dropping Leo off at the staion, hit the bodyshop with it and upgrade/tune it twice. Drive to the Grand Upper Bridge (the twin bridges that's hard to miss on the map). Step on the gas and you should reach 125mph with some luck. Use the horn (press X) to move any vehicles blocking your path out of the way.

I got this during Mission 8.

Just before you complete the mission you will collect one of the greaser muscle cars that you need to drive to Derek at the docks to sell to him.

Before you take it to derek visit the bodyshop and upgrade the car twice.

Once upgraded head to grand upper bridge on the map. Its the large freeway bridge in yellow.

Once on the bridge drive pretty much dead centre inbetween the 2 lanes so you won't hit any other cars.

By the time you get to the other end you should have got the achievement.

The youtube video below isn't mine but shows how to get it by using the method above.

Just thought i'd add another easy way to get this. In Chapter 10 you get to drive Joe's Smith Custom 200. If you take this to the shop and upgrade the engine to max. You'll be able to hit over 125 on the bridge used in the other methods.

An easy way to get this achievement is to steal a Hot Rod or wait until chapter 8 entitled "Wild Ones" where you are required to drive one. After finishing your main objective at the foundry, you'll be asked to drive a Hot Rod to Derek at the docks and sell it. Before you do that, set a way point to the bridge in between Uptown and Hunters point (the only big bridge that is completely straight) and drive over to Uptown. Now the Hot Rod will not be able to achieve 125 mph without being upgraded, so you'll need to do so. Now I fully upgraded the car which came out to be about $600 so it's not cheap. I would recommend going to the repair shop in Uptown called Charlie's Service and Repair if you don't want to travel far. Once the car is upgraded, simply drive towards the bridge and as the achievements says, put the pedal to the metal. To make life easier, drive in between both lanes (pretty much centered on top of the dotted lines) so that you don't crash into other cars. Oh and don't worry about the police either, you end up driving so fast they give up the chase within a few seconds.

Just got the achievement by accident - I was following the HellCreeper666 guide for the 'Explorer'' chevo at the link below and this popped within a couple of seconds with a normal car - I have all the DLC installed not sure if it will work with just the base game. Credit to HellCreeper666!

I was having trouble with this achievement, even when crossing the bridge with a fully tuned Hotrod, Smith custom 200, and Shubert Frigate. I could hit 120, but passing it seemed to be impossible for me and I'm still unsure why.

However, once I found the Smith Thunderbolt, tuned it twice and tried, I got it first time. For anyone struggling like I was with other cars, the Thunderbolt might just save you. You get one guaranteed at the beginning of chapter 14, when you're driving it with Joe to eliminate an informant for Eddie. Also I noticed that later on in the chapter that one was sitting outside the Maltese Falcon when you go there searching for Joe. Unsure if that was a random spawn, but you will at least get the first one as default.

Also, if anyone is struggling making the bridge crossing with the speed from the Sand Island side, you can try the way I did it, from the opposite side of the bridge.
I backed up to the repair shop and accelerated up the hill. By the time I hit the bridge I was doing 60, compared to 40 on the Sand Island side.
Just some alternative ideas that helped me out. Good luck with this achievement.
