The achievement CAN be done on ANY difficulty, to get this achievement, simply collect 50 gold medals using the SPECIAL attack ONLY, no primary fire, the achievement will unlock once the 50 medals have been collected, NOT at the end of the level.
The easiest way achieve this is by using ATHENA as hes special attack lets you ram enemys, gaining the gold medal almost without fail.
