I'm just going to toss this out for your consideration. Four of us, via a TA gaming session tried this. No more than two of us
ever got in the same lobby (
after trying for over an hour) at the same time. We tried syncing gamerzone, language, even local, no soup. We also prefered each other, which did not help either (personally I think ping times were playing a bigger role in the march making).
So, here's my idea: Make a gaming session for more than 4 people... Say eight (good size for chat and to keep a list of players handy). When you play, hope that maybe 2 or 3 of your group get in the
same lobby (although with a large group you might get lucky and get 4 in the same lobby). Then, whoever is not going for the win can a) impede the other non-TA players and b) not try too hard, thus giving the TA player who is going for the win a better chance at finishing on top.
Obviously this makes more sense for some games versus others. For example, on Master Shafter, try to get in the same circle but don't win the button mashing. For Stand Up Zomedy, you can spend your time undoing other player's work, thus improving your boosting partner's odds.
I haven't play enough of the games to formulate other boosting tips. If you have ideas, please add them to the comments.
In the meantime, I guess I'm going to have to do this the old-fashioned way and practice, practice, practice.
PS. A little extra info. Of the four of us, 2 are in the U.K., 2 are in the U.S. In those 90 minutes I ran into ONE of the U.K. gamers ONCE. So I don't think the matchmaking is strictly region locked. I ran into my fellow U.S. gamer more often, perhaps one third of the time. This still makes me think ping time comes into play. Therefore. if you are going to set up a session, I suggest keeping gamers in the same region (physically, not changing your local).
[Update] Here's a few things I figured out on my way to this achievement.
First, understanding the ins and outs of each game is helpful. See the related achievement for more information:
Second, other than the first cut-scene, pressing start will skip the cut-scene. If everyone does this, the last three games will start quicker. Same goes for the end cut-scene.
Third, and I feel kinda dumb saying this, but red is host, blue joined second, green third, yellow forth. If you are trying to stack the lobby, one of you needs to be red. If red quits, the lobby closes.
Fourth, sometimes (if you are not the host) it pays to start a game with randoms. By quitting ASAP, well you've likely just cut down the number of people that will try to join you.
Fifth, getting in the same room will take a bit of patience. But as long as one of you are the host you can wait anyone else out. I don't understand why it takes people so long to figure out what's going on. It was amazing how long some people waited before leaving.
Lastly, big thanks to my boosting partners today; Current Future, crash righteous, Zesty Barbarian and CYKO7IK (psychotic).
