Not a guide as such, but the achievement description is actually; "Max out the bonus multiplier while in Rush mode".

I unlocked this achievement on or around Level 7 and my multiplier seemed to rise as I made combos of the coloured pieces with little stars in them.

As I said, not a guide as such, more of a correction.
