4. Wait for the 3-second countdown to elapse.
5. Go to step 2. Repeat until achievement pops.
Yes, total game time apparently includes the 3 seconds spent resuming the game. |

This is the method I used to get this achievement. I started out only being able to get 3:30 or so, so I came a long ways.
Start out immediately by making flowers to create silver stars. If you don't have any stars to make off right away then just restart if you want. Keep making silver stars and large combos and let the stars accumulate at the bottom. Once you have 6 or more stars and they are in the same general area then create a flower with the stars to create a black pearl and save that for later. If it doesn't work to create a black pearl then combine three silver stars together to freeze the screen. The earlier you can freeze the screen the better as it is easier to make bigger cascading combos with less colors on the board. Freezing and cascades basically allow the time to keep going while not having any further bombs come. Freezing also freezes the time on the bombs on the board. Put off the end-game as long as possible.
The bombs should be coming now and you should try and combine the bombs with colored stars of the same color to eliminate all of that color off of the screen which helps a lot. Keep doing that while trying to make more silver stars if the opportunity is there. Let the stars accumulate together and do further freezing as soon as it can be done. Once you are completely overrun with bombs then use a black pearl to eliminate all bombs on the board. You will get one free black pearl along the way. Then go back to colored stars and bomb elimination. It really helps to have a second black pearl but I got to 5:49 without one so it is possible to do without.
I ended up making one additional black pearl and probably 3-4 silver star freezes to make it to the end. Takes a bit of luck and some skill as well. Good luck! |

When I did this achievement, I googled a stopwatch just so I knew where I was while I was doing this. For some reason, if I don't know what the time is that I'm at, I seem to not get as high of a time, but if I can at least glance and see how much more time I have, it helps. So as soon as I start the game, I hit start on the timer - simple as that.
Also, the first piece I made from the stars was the black pearl, after that, as soon as I had three stars to freeze, I would always do that as soon as I could. When grouping pieces together, try to avoid getting 4 stars together, because it just wastes a star. You only need a cluster of stars to freeze the board.
When using black pearls, do not use them until after 5:00 is on your stop watch. It may seem tempting to do it before, but it isn't really worth it to do so. After 5 minutes, the bombs really begin filling up the screen. You want to try the best you can to cluster bombs with stars, but if you can't, just make quick clusters of three of any color to at least buy a second or two of time. When you actually activate the black pearl, pay attention to the lowest numbered bomb on the screen and use it just as it hits 0. This method can be tricky to do since sometimes you may miss the lowest numbered. Try to glance and do the best you can to find it, as it may take trial and error since so much is going on. If you wait till the bomb is at 0, you have a potential of clearing off most of the screen, since after 5 minutes, all of the pieces mostly consist of bombs.
Those are really the main tips I went by. It isn't a very easy achievement, but if you keep trying, eventually you should make it if you are descent enough at Hexic. |
