This was pretty frustrating until I realized you can turn on a balance meter in game options! Before I turned on the meter I could manual for about 50 meters MAX! Once I turned it on I went well over the needed amount for the achievement (I think about 400+ meters).

USE THE METER AND YOU CAN GET THIS IN THE FIRST 5 MINUTES!!!
