How to unlock the Genie achievement

One of the best ways, in my experience, to rack up tons of happiness points is to be a writer. There are tons of wishes that provide between 1,000 and 5,000 points for writing books. In addition, those royalty payments really, really add up big, and that money can help you with lots of other achievements.

Combined with that, if you pick the "neurotic" and "loner" traits, you'll end up getting wishes like "make the bed" or "stay at home for a while" which add up really quickly.

Having different traits, like bookworm, genius, neurotic, and loner, will have easy, quick wishes pop up, but it is VERY time consuming. Non-career oriented skills, like writing, can reward with huge wishes, like writing 25 novels. They take some time, but add up much faster.

Also, you can spend the points that you've accrued and it will still count toward your 150,000.

The Manic MooseIs it defanetly okay to spend the points you earn because I'm pretty sure I have earned 150,000 with one sim.. currently have 100,000 and have spent about 60,000 prior and yet I don't have the achievement?

nightstorm56Yes, it is definitely ok. I spent my points every chance I had enough to purchase items with.

There are a few great traits your SIM should have when going in for this challenge and the other achievement 'True Wealth'- such as: Loner, book worm, neurotic, evil.

Then you get your SIM to attend writing and art classes to help you out. Make sure your home has a PC and Easel at home to use.

I had had a wife/husband team going, the Husband could go out and earn the money while the wife could go about learning writing/art as quick as possible.

When you half the karma points spend them on 'Stroke of Genius' so your Sim can learn the skill quicker.

Writing/Art give you lots of wishes and some of the become longer as in write 60 novels. Might take ages but you'll get 6k lifetime points.

Having the neurotic trait makes your Sim want to be clean- You may get wishes of Brush your teeth 3 times, make your bed, wash the dishes. These give smaller life time rewards but they do tend to pop up a lot.

Being evil allows you to donate money to charities that you'll Sim will wish to do. Some can be as little as 100S or as big as 10,000S- depending on which the lifetime points can reward you with lots of points for bigger donations or smaller amounts for smaller donations.

Now the biggest problem is finding out how many points you've got..right? Took me a while to work it out but this is how..

    1) Hit the X button
2)Tab over to Sim Info and press right on d-pad and click A
    3) Here it brings up the area where you can spend all your Lifetime Reward points.
    4) Add up all the ones you've currently spent. You can tell because you'll have a little green tick on the ones you've bought.
    5) Adding up how many you've spent will give you a very nice guide as to how many your Sim has currently earnt. Plus add in the points next to 'Available Points'.

The only thing to note is Mid-Life Crisis can be used more than once..So remember if you use it because you won't see a tick next to it.

And very imporantly turn off your Sims life span like Amifur suggested!
