This is a story-related achievement that pops as soon as you finish mission 10, Crash Site, where you have to travel up a river in a fleet of ships and destroy buildings along the way.

The name of the achievement refers to Apocalypse Now, in which Martin Sheen's character says that one important thing he learned was "Never get off the boat" as he and his crew travel up the river into Cambodia.
