The 50,000 atoms need to be in hand, any you spend on upgrades don't count.
I recommend limiting upgrades to maxing out electron, seekers, and acid and maybe a single upgrade to rotor. These should be enough to get through the story. (Maybe try acid at only level 2 for the 4th boss to save 10k)
I'd also wasted some atoms on the first upgrades to lancet, and cannon and fully upgraded the paddle. I also fully upgraded harpoon for Fully Buffed ach. Even so I was at 40K atoms at the final boss.
Replay some levels once you reach the final boss to get up to 50K for the achievement. You're atoms are saved at checkpoints so its OK to exit a level early to try a different one.
EDIT: eNamrah mentions you get 20K from finding the 20th bucky ball. If you're at 30K at the final boss and have found the first 19 just snag the last one when the boss moves to save yourself some grinding. |
