This is for taking down the helicopter that appears in the Leisure Park on day three of 72 Hour Mode!

Just kill a few of the Special Ops guys, take their machine guns, make sure you have some bottles of wine as well, head to the covered picnic tables outside, zombie ride up on top of there.
Work out the pattern that the Helicopter flys in (it will do a figure eight pattern), aim just ahead of the chopper as it comes towards you and you should get this with two or three Spec Ops machine guns emptied into it!!
Just be careful of the rocket attack! Jump off the roof if you think you can't avoid them, then just zombie ride back up and try again!

I used the sniper rifle and it not about damaging the chopper because I emptied mag after mag into the body of the bird to no avail. Take a page for the Somalian war lords aim for the tail rotor. it is the best (and i believe only) way to bring the chopper down. I think it just took one shot with the rifle to drop it though i will admit it wasnt easy and used much luck. What i think you all did was while you were aiming at the chopper and unloading the SF gun on it you hit the tail rotor and popped the achievement

Hitting the tail rotor worked for me as well. I unloaded 3 machine guns and 80% of my 4th and final one into it aiming for the pilots mostly when it would pause to fire missiles. Nothing. I also had tried with the sniper rifles. About to give up from frustration after having spent a couple of hrs on this, a lucky shot to the tail as it made a close pass after just firing its missiles did it. FYI, you can jump up to the roof of the covered area from the ground and not have to bother with the zombie ride way.

Helicopter never appeared for me :/ Do I need to do something particulate to get it to show?

!!!WALL OF TEXT ALERT!!! (but spoiler free)

I've battled the chopper and won twice now because the first time I was captured by the Special Forces (SF) and wanted to unlock the SF Uniform at the end of the game. This solution is intended for those who want a fairly easy method and want to know EXACTLY how to do it.

Background
The location you want to use is the canopy over the picnic area in Leisure Park (on your map it's just west of "Jill's Sandwiches" (P104) in Paradise Plaza). You can jump onto the roof without the need to stand on a zombie's shoulders and you'll use this frequently in following this solution. The chopper will fly in a figure of 8 pattern, pausing to turn towards you (often out of site behind trees) and then quickly flying at you while firing it's machine guns. Every few "laps" it will stop for a longer duration to fire rockets at you. Both times I battled the chopper I was carrying 3 books (Criminal Biography, Entertainment & Skateboarding), Real Mega-Blaster (RMB), Small Chainsaw (Clownsaw), 2 Sniper rifles and 5 Orange Juices.

Recommendation
I would recommend the Sniper Rifle personally and I can't snipe to save my life in any game. Stand on the canopy and watch what the chopper does. When it flew at me I dropped off the canopy and used it to block the bullets while taking out nearby zombies with the Clownsaw. When it stopped to fire rockets at me I was getting between 3 and 5 shots with the sniper, again using the canopy to save me from the rockets. I didn't check how many shots it took but I didn't need more than the 2 Sniper Rifles.

Thoughts
I have no idea whether leaving Leisure Park to stock up on ammo/food and then returning resets the health of the chopper when you return. The 2nd time I took it out I entered Leisure Park and didn't leave till it was flying away with it's tail on fire (take a picture if you like)

What I did the first time
Having started off using the Machine Gun I quickly abandoned it as a pain in the ass. I fired about 170 shots of the RMB but the chopper was still flying around so I headed to the Hunting Shack in the North Plaza and grabbed the 2 Sniper Rifles and went back to attack it again. At this time I was still trying to shoot the chopper (from the picnic area canopy) while it was flying around or obscured by trees. I used up all my sniper ammo and was left with only the RMB so I carried on shooting. After about another 60 shots I finally took it out (and then got captured by the SF).

At the end of the 72 Hour mode after the military arrives, go to Carlito's Hideout and save your game. After this leave the hideout and take a left to the gun shop, this is where you can get a sniper rifle. Take the sniper rifle out into Leisure Park at the centre of the mall where you will see a military helicopter attacking you. wait until the helicopter turns to come toward you and let loose with the sniper rifle. It should only take a few shots to finish it off.

Right on! Sniper rifle is definitely the way to go. I stood on the brown roofed picnic building and downed it in three shots.
