Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 Review
Very rarely does it happen that a game I initially had no interest in work its way up to become my game of the year. Even further from the norm does that game get a release that becomes one of my most anticipated games of the year. This is where Garden Warfare 2 steps in, opening up the flood gates on the never ending battle between the now on the defensive Plants being led by Dave-Bot 3000, and the Zombies who are now in control of the newly named Zomburbia.
Keeping all of the charm and joking nature of the first game Garden Warfare 2 begins by adding a light story mode into the hectic multiplayer nature of the first game. The story mode is a string of quick missions introducing you to heroes representing one of the 6 new classes between the 2 factions who you will be doing missions for. Overall the story doesn't really add much besides a new hidden wave based mode to unlock a special set of appearance items.
The multiplayer is pretty much all the same modes as the last game with a whole new set of maps to learn and battle on. If you have played the first game the good news is all of your unlockable characters from the first game are able to be transferred up to the new game with an exception of the few marketed characters ie: Dr.Chester, and the Berry Shooter.
The previous character classes all make a return with their variants and an additional 2 for this game. The main draw for multiplayer and what most people have been excited about however are the 6 new character classes added in, these include the magician based Rose, the robot like Citron, the mech calling Imp and one of everyone's favorite Super Brainz. Each of the new classes adds in their own little flare in the multiplayer to help counter out each other but as of launch a few of them are severely overpowered with no real way to fight back or counter their moves.
All of the modes are tied together in the new hub world map Backyard Battlegrounds. From this map their are portal to enter multiplayer, NPC's to get side quests and smaller missions from for coins, and tons of secret areas and collectables tossed in for good measure including 54 hidden Garden Gnomes, 50 Snow Globes, and a few hidden rooms that will open up a whole new view on some pesky little creatures you may of seen.
You are also able to get "daily" quests from a notice board that will have you getting kills on a certain character class, reviving teammates, or finishing rounds of Garden Ops. These quests will reward you with stars that were previously used to level up your characters. Now you are able to use to open up loot chests in the Backyard for coins, and decorative items to customize your backyard with. The quests add in a nice way to come back to the game to try out new games modes every few days you may of not touched otherwise.
Overall Garden Warfare 2 is a fantastic way to continue on this series. It doesn't really hold anything back from the previous game all while adding in new characters to play with. I personally really enjoyed the touch of rewarding players with their previous characters for spending time in the first game. Right now we can only hope that PopCap and EA continue to put out free content updates for this game to keep people coming back. If you were a fan of the first game at all of just looking for a light shooter to play in between your yearly Call of Duty's and what not I highly recommend to try this game out, not saying everyone is going to buy it right away but it will strongly appeal to some. Now if you excuse me it's time for me to jump back into Turf War to level up Mob Cob and see what other sort of hijinks I can get into.

My most anticiated games releasing in 2016....probably.
New year means changing your whole life around and creating a new and better you, is what I would say if this wasn't a gaming blog! A new year means new video games, new announcements and a whole lot of achievements. With only 6 months left till E3 and everyone is mindset on next year I figured now would be a great time to list off my most anticipated games this year! Plant's VS Zombies Garden Warfare 2
First up is a game coming out next month, with the original Garden Warfare being my personal game of the year in 2014 it should be no surprise that with added characters, classes, new maps, and game modes that this is at the very top of my list. Let's hope that they keep the free DLC updates rolling into the new game. Final Fantasy XV
I haven't been a fan of Final Fantasy since 10 back on my PS2 but with Tetsuya Nomura who was in charge or development for the Kingdom Hearts series taking the lead directing role of Final Fantasy, my hopes are high. Final Fantasy has always been a series I wish I knew more about or was able to get into more so hopefully this will be the first stepping stone of bringing my head first into the series. Sea of Thieves
There should only be one word to really describe why I am excited for this game and that word is Rare. Rare the company who literally created my childhood with Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, and Conker's Bad Fur Day. I am so ecstatic to see the company back making open world games and not the Kinect based games of the 360 era. I am fully down to hop on a pirate ship and explore the open seas with my closest friends while admiring the gorgeous artwork and stylized visuals held dear to the people of Rare Yooka Laylee
Getting right off of Rare's nostalgia comes Yooka Laylee a open world 3D collectathon platformer made by some of Rare's original team from back in the day. This game being one of the fastest Kickstarted games of all time goes to show that the drought of these old style games has been long overdue to be brought back from the dead. This game also has the amazing Grant Kirkhope coming back to create the soundtrack and everything released so far just leaks Banjo-Kazooie vibes.
These are my personal game that I am excited for comin out this year. Feel free to keep the discussion growing in the comments below and let me know what games you can't wait to get your hands on later this year! Either way I hope you all have a fantastic 2016 gaming!
