3. Story walkthrough
Today we will be going through the achievements for Band Hero. Of all the music games I've played, this was the easiest to complete. I will cover how to unlock the achievements in the most efficient way. You might get them in a different order, which is fine... I didn't get mine this way but I have the benefit of looking back now. This is just a suggestion for how to complete this the fastest way.
1) Start the tutorial mode and work your way through the talking. Be sure to complete all instruments under your gamertag. You can complete this with just a controller if you wish.
2) Once you have unlocked your tutorial achievement, you can exit back to the main menu and then choose GH™Studio where you want to make a song. It can even be just 1 note if you desire.
Now you have a choice: work on the offline (career) achievements or head online and play multiplayer modes with your friends. Honestly it’s up to you, but I'd suggest getting a few friends together to work on the online achievements and knock out the band ones along the way. I didn't have other people to play with locally, so I completed most of the game via Xbox Live. For the purposes of this walkthrough we'll start with the online and assume you have no one to play with where you live, followed by the career mode achievements.
3) Online Achievements
Go into Career mode and choose to look for players on Xbox Live. You can have as few as 1 other band member. It is important to note that you are not required to play as a standard band for any of the online achievements. You can play as any combination of Guitar, Bass, Vocals and Drums. Make sure you have chosen to host the song and when it’s complete you will unlock:

Now make sure you have 3 other friends, either where you are or on Live, and proceed to play a few songs together online. By having all 4 players play all notes in a band moment (which most songs have) you will unlock:

Assuming you are all fairly proficient players, you may also unlock several career-related achievements such as:
Score over 1,000,000 points as a band in any single song in Career or Quickplay
Complete a song with 4 players without any members failing on expert in Career or Quickplay
Complete a song as 4 of the same instrument on any difficulty in Quickplay or Career
For Star Powered, you are required to attain an 11x multiplier in band play. This is done by having all 4 players streak through a band moment with a 4x multiplier each and then activate star power at the end of the moment as it grants an additional multiplier. A Cool Mill is fairly straightforward; score 1 million points as a band. Pick a song you are all good with and play on hard or expert. If you happen to have the Guitar Hero World Tour import tracks... you can easily do this yourself with 4 headsets and a fan on No Sleep 'till Brooklyn on expert. You can also use the method I just mentioned to complete the There's No I in Band Hero achievement... or again find competent players. You do not have to even do well on the song... when I unlocked the achievement, our bassist was flashing red; simply complete the song for the achievement. If you used the 4 vocalists method you will also have unlocked Four of a Kind, if not, it can be done on any difficulty.
That takes care of the career mode online achievements. There are a couple more that require competitive online play that we will look at now.
To complete an online Do-or-die game choose Competitive from the main menu. Next choose Rockfest. When Rockfest starts you will be given two choices for games. If Do or Die is listed, choose it. If not, simply continue restarting until it is given as a choice.
Play an online Do or Die game
This requires a bit more effort as it is 25 games played. On the bright side you don't have to win them so if you are boosting it is simply 25 games. Similar to Do or Die, start up a competitive match and instead choose Pro Face Off. Only choose 1 song and do not choose another song; it counts matches played, not songs.

Congratulations! You have finished the online portion of the game. The rest is unlockable offline. I needed a bit of help completing challenges, but I will cover those shortly.
4) Offline Play
Back to Career mode, this time we rock solo. The bulk of the achievements are unlockable in this mode of play. The easiest and fastest way to complete the majority of the remaining achievements involves the use of the 'fan trick'. This entails placing your microphone (or headset) against something that puts out constant noise, such as a fan, and playing on beginner. By doing this you will get 6 stars for each song played. This is crucial, as there are achievements for not only completing all the songs, but for also having 111, 333, and 555 stars throughout your career. There are challenges associated with each song as well that generate stars as well as play a hand in several achievements. There are also secret notes in many songs that when FC'd (full-cleared) pop achievements. When all of the secret notes have been played you get another very large achievement. The fan trick comes in very handy here as you can be sure you hit all the notes.
At the Career screen where we choose our instrument and rocker, scroll downward until you see the option to change rocker. We want to change that to 'Avatar'. Choose your instrument of destruction and start your career. Once you complete the song you will likely have the following achievements:
Complete a song as an Avatar rocker
100% a song as a vocalist
Continue through your career in this manner, 6-starring every song all the way through the entire setlist. Depending on if you have a list of which songs to play to complete your secret note collection or if you just want to play through the setlist from beginning to end will determine the order the achievements unlock for you. I will list them in groups and provide pointers for the completion of each overall objective.

Not all of these songs are playable without song work. Some of them are further into a gig and require you to play a song or two to unlock them. Again, I have to stress that the fan trick is the fastest way to complete these songs.

As you unlock sets and complete songs, you will progress through these completion based achievements. None of them require any special attention as they will pop as you use the fan trick to complete each song.
Complete a Career gig on any difficulty
Complete 25% of the gigs in Career
Complete 50% of the gigs in Career
Complete 75% of the gigs in Career
Complete Career on any difficulty with any instrument
Play through every Band Hero song once
Complete the gigs and unlock all of the celebrity characters
Stars
The stars come fast with the fan trick, but you only can get 486 stars this way. You are required to complete song challenges to finish off the remaining stars (not to mention achievements).
Challenges
These are available for each song and can grant up to 3 additional stars each - based on how well you score in the challenge. Each one is for a specific instrument or requires the complete band. If playing in a band and any band member completes the challenge for the song... each member in the band gets credit for completion as well. Even though you must play on at easy at least, you can also help yourself with extra controllers on beginner vocal tracks against a fan to feed star power to you. The rankings are gold, platinum, and diamond.

Jack of all Trades requires you to have completed at least one challenge for each instrument type (guitar, bass, drums and vocals.) If you don't have a particular instrument type, try to get a friend or booster to play challenges with you and you get credit when they complete challenges with instruments you don't have.
Complete at least one challenge for every instrument at Gold level or better
50 challenges at 2 stars or better is the hardest achievement in the game if you ask me. Don't forget that you can also complete the band challenges easily with a friend or two if you are having trouble finishing off the 50 as I was.

Finishing up
Almost done! There are just two more achievements that might need to be unlocked. The first is use star power to score 10k or more. Chances are this will pop as you work on your challenges.
Score over 10,000 points while in a single Star Power deployment
After completing all those challenges, you've probably also accomplished this, but if not... FC any song with any instrument on medium or harder.
Streak through an entire song without missing a note on medium or harder difficulty
That's it. You've completed every achievement in Band Hero. Pat yourself on the back and grab Guitar Hero 5. It’s another easy music game completion.
