1. Walkthrough overview
Blur is an amazing racing game that combines power-ups (similar to Mario Kart) with some hardcore racing. The game is easy to pick up but it will take you a while to gain enough skill in the game to master it. Alright lets dig into those precious achievements which are unlocked by playing the 2 modes in the game:
1. Single player
There are 9 major events with a "boss" level at the end of each event. The 9 major events all have 7 minor events in them. These minor events can be 3 different kind of races: a) Race, b) Destruction and c) Checkpoint. Races are just plain race events against the AI. Destruction events are a bit more challenging than the races. You'll need to gain points for wrecking the AI cars using bolts (a kind of power-up). Checkpoint events are races against the clock (get to the flag in time!) and will require track knowledge and a good car choice to complete. In each minor event you can earn lights, with a maximum of 7 lights. 5 lights for the primary objective (first place / most points / 20 seconds left), 1 light for acquiring the fan targets and 1 light for getting the fan run. To unlock a "boss" event you need to complete some challenges which are called career demands. But all of this will be explained in the story walkthrough.
2. Multiplayer
The multiplayer part of this game is the part on which you will probably spend most of your time since there is an achievement for reaching rank 50 (highest). The multiplayer has multiple events which you unlock after reaching a certain rank. You start off at the proving grounds (till rank 10) opening up the other events. If you break it down there are 3 main event types: a) Powered up racing b) Hardcore racing and c) Motor Mash events. Powered-up racing is just like the races in the single player where you use power-ups to help beat your opponents to the finish line. Hardcore racing is racing without the convenience of power-ups. Motor Mash is essentially a destruction derby where you just total everyone else's car. To get achievements and to rank up faster there are 5 challenge packs which will give you extra fans (the game's experience payout) when a challenge is completed. Those fans are required to rank up to level 50.
It doesn't really matter where you start actually, but I preferred playing through the single player on easy first, then the multiplayer part and then back to the single player to clean up. This way you can get to know the game in single player and rack up some achievements along the way, while the multiplayer will gain you a lot of experience on the tracks and the use of power-ups to help you to clean up the single player afterwards. This walkthrough is based on this method but if you want you can just fast forward to the section you're starting on.
