3. Story walkthrough
Welcome to the Dead Space True Achievement walkthrough! There are 48 achievements in Dead Space and 47 of them can be acquired on any difficulty. This game requires a minimum of 2 playthroughs to get the full 1000 GamerScore. I presume that you are reading this to beat this game in the fastest way possible, so let's get started.
We are going to get as many achievements as possible on the first playthrough on easy, so it saves us the trouble of doing them on our impossible playthrough. I will start off by telling you about some of the achievements that it doesn't matter which stage of the playthrough you are at.
On the first playthrough you will only be using the Plasma Cutter. This way you will get the One Gun achievement.
If you come across anything dead, whether you killed it, or it is just a random dead body, stomp off all of the limbs, because you get 3 achievements for dismembering limbs.
You will also need to throw 50 objects using the kinesis module. I just took the first thing I could find to throw, and threw it against the wall 50 times. Also, you will need to shoot 50 enemies with your stasis module. I got it during my first playthrough although you will definitely use this a lot during the impossible playthrough. To recharge your stasis module you can pause the game and press XYYXY. The cheat has no effect on achievements. Also in this playthrough, you want to kill 30 enemies using melee attacks.
Here are some random achievements that you probably want to know about as well. These are really simple to get, and you will have no problem at all with them. I just wanted to mention them.
Now let's get to the individual chapters.
There is nothing special about chapter 1.
Once you get to the first zero-gravity area, jump 100 times.
There is nothing special about chapter 3.
You will kill a brute. He'll chase you around and you shoot him a few times. When he covers his head, shoot him between the shoulder blades a bunch of times and he should die. You will come across an area with gravity panels (tiles with blue streams flowing out of them) you need to force 5 enemies into them. Don't worry if you don't get 5 this time, because there are more gravity panels like this in chapter 9. Once you get into the room with the ADS cannon, DON'T SIT DOWN!! There is a save station right by the door you just entered, save there before you sit down, because if you finish this sequence with less than 50 % shield strength you can just reload your save and try again. There is a video guide for ragdoll check, and don't get cocky kid below.
There is nothing special about chapter 5.
During the boss fight against the Leviathon, it will spit pods at you. Use the kinesis module on the pod while it is flying at you and you will catch it.
There is nothing special in chapter 7.
During the ADS cannon sequence, again, save before you sit down, because you need to finish this sequence with 50% or more shield strength.
There are more gravity panels if you haven't killed 5 people with them. There is also a shooting gallery, which you should make sure you get a perfect score on; beat all the levels by shooting the red silhouettes.
Play through 6 levels of zero-G basketball.
Pick up the Peng Trophy. We will go through the duplicating process on the next playthrough.
Other than the boss, there is nothing special.
Collectibles. In this game there are logs. Don't even stress yourself out about these because the logs are everywhere, and they are pretty hard to miss. Just pick them up when you see them, and you should be fine. Just in case you are having trouble (which you shouldn't be) there is a guide below. The reason that we are doing the log walk on this playthrough is because we will be getting all the different weapon achievements on this playthrough as well.
There is a small variety of weapons in this game, and you need to get the 30 kills with each weapon. The guns that I normally had equipped were: Plasma Cutter, Pulse Rifle, Line Gun, and (enter weapon here). Pulse Rifle and Plasma Cutter will get ammo a lot so I advise carrying those 2 with you at all times. You need 30 kills with each of these weapons: Plasma Cutter, Pulse Rifle, Ripper, Force Gun, Line Gun, Flamethrower, and Contact Beam. Don't sell the weapons once you are finished with them because you need to have them all at one time to get the full arsenal achievement.
Skipping forward to chapter 11 again, there is more PENG to be had. What I really mean is that this is the time to duplicate the PENG trophy and get the Maxed Out! achievement. Follow the instructions from the video and you'll be fine.
Now finish this playthrough and you should be done!
Unless you decided that you don't want to duplicate the PENG trophy. You will need to start a "new game +" on the same difficulty that you were just on and it will carry over all of your stuff from your last playthrough. Simply keep playing until you have enough power nodes to max out all of your equipment.
Now you should be finished!
