Title update, Patch 1.1 was made available to PC and Xbox 360 users December 4, 2007. While this update fixes some minor issues with the game, they also offer some new goodies for players; entitled Ryan Industries Plasmids and Tonics.
These include the new plasmids Sonic Boom 1 & 2 which can both be equipped during game play, a possible un-resolved issue. This new plasmid does not alter game play; as fire, ice, and electric will still be the staple 3. From a novice developer's point of view, Sonic Boom seems to have merely changed the Y axis from the Cyclone Trap (an excellent ability that is mediocre when actually used), to the X axis. As well the new tonics offered are EVE saver, Machine Buster 1 & 2, and Vending Expert 1 & 2 . Each of these new items (including Sonic Boom 1 & 2) cost a mere 1 ADAM to purchase within the game. It should be noted that, while these tonics add to the game they do not count toward the tonic collector achievement, which still relies on the game's original 53. EVE saver is the only saving grace in terms of items bought within this title update. You can notice the difference in game play once it is enabled. Machine Busters 1 & 2, do just what they say, they offer you to destroy bots, cameras, and turrets with more ease; nothing wrench jockey 1 &2 or electric buck shcts couldn't handle before. Vending Expert is probably biggest let down in this entire update. the most you save on an item is two dollars an item an already hacked machine. For how it is advertised, a first aid should cost 10 dollars, not 13. This title update offers a new feature in game play that in turn allowed for a new achievement worth 100 gamer points. The vita chambers are allowed to be disabled to offer gamers more of a challenge. When playing on the hard difficulty a player can obtain Brass Balls 100G. The most difficult aspect to this achievement is saving your game at the right time, as the disabling of vita chambers results death in immediate game over. Overall, considering the plasmid and tonics collectively make little difference to the game play, as beating the game on hard with out them can be easily done, these features can go by unnoticed. You find yourself playing the same level, with the same enemies, relying on the same plasmids, tonics, and weapons. a better avenue had the update went could have shown us more interesting updates for the weapons. Or a possible new enemy or side level. Though with the inclusion of the disable vita chambers feature and the new achievement Brass Balls. This is enough incentive for gamers to dust off their copies of Bioshock and give this game it's one last hooray for 100 points.
