Call of duty: World at war's nazi zombie bonus mode has been a huge success from day one. Nacht der untoten was the map shipped originaly with the disk, allowing four player co-op fighting the undead hordes that are thrown at you was a succes with most people. Verruckt; the second zombie map set at Wittenau sanatorium introduced speech, power activation, a moving mystery box, perks and electro-shock defences. Shi no numa the third map set in Japan, introduced the four most story driven characters which are Tank Dempsey, Nikolai Belinski. Takeo Masaki and Doctor Richtofen. Hellhounds, a new weapon called the Wanderwaffe DG-2 (pronounced Vunder-vaffe), a new trap called the flogger and the ability go out in the open.
The brand new map Der Riese(the giant), brings back our underclass heroes for more zombie carnage. This map is a kind of mixture of all the past zombie maps. For instance: from nacht der untoten, we have the dark night setting, from verruckt we have perks, power and electro-shock defences and from Shi no numa we have the characters, Dogs and the Wanderwaffe DG-2.
New things from this map is its huge layout. I would say it's about a fifth of the size of the multiplayer map Seelow. It also introduces an amazing invention called the pack-a-punch machine, however to get that working you need to turn on the power, then activate three teleporters. To link a teleporter you need to turn it on then run back to the pack-a-punch to activate it.
The pack-a-punch machine upgrades any weapon even the poncy colt.45 and turns it into an ass kicking dominator. There are also new weapon s such as the monkey bomb which acts a pipe bomb from Left 4 dead, basically you throw it,zombies crowd around it and BOOM!!! (note to self:doesn't work on dogs). The other is the Bowie knife. The Bowie knife is basically a huge knife which is a one hit kill until around wave 12-13.
The multiplayer maps aren't anything special.
Breach is set roughly a mile away from the Reichsatg, it's an A-symetrical map made for games like capture the flag and sabotage. It's built around close-quarter comabt and outdoor long range combat.
Battery is a map set in the middle of the sea, its' built around long short to medium ranged combat. I find it is most fun on CTF, team deathmatch and War.
My personal favourite of these maps is revolution. It's built for game modes such as Search and Destroy, War, Domination and Team Deathmatch. It's very open and has alot of balcony's, and buildings to snipe in, and outer path's for light gunner's, heavy assault and close assault type classes. |
