A Slip of the Tongue is a stand alone case shoved between A Marriage Made in Heaven and The Fallen Idol during Phelps' career with the traffic desk. The case will load up by default if you're playing through the story mode or you can access it directly through the cases option in the title screen.
The plot is pretty straight forward and a nice change of pace. In a game that heavily uses cars, it was cool to see a case that used cars as the primary medium. For Phelps and his partner Bekowsky, what started off as a routine traffic stop for a suspected grand theft auto turns into uncovering an auto-theft ring.
This case was very conversation heavy and there was virtually no investigation done throughout the case. You can judge from the case's name that there will be plenty of deception and lies as you converse with the various suspects. Phelps definitely took 'doubting a suspect' to a whole new level in this case; he said some things that were pretty righteous. In addition, I was happy to see Bekoswky received additional dialogue throughout the case (during car rides and cutscenes); his sarcastic demeanor is always welcomed.
As I stated, even though there was very little investigation done in this case, you still get your standard car chase sequence and a dramatic shoot-out at the end of the case. But I thought the highlight of this case was the emphasis on dialogue and conversations and also the subject matter of the auto-theft ring.
Overall, you're looking at the standard time length of 45 minutes to an hour, which is similar to any other case encountered in LA Noire. For the price of 320 MSP (or even cheaper if you buy that Rockstar Pass), I thought it was worth it. For you achievements folks, there are five associated ones; two are story-related, one is conversation-related, one is chase-related and the last is related to the shoot-out. |
