So this is a pretty standard GOW2 Horde knockoff with a few twists.
You are entered into an arena, choosing either easy, moderate, or hard, and have to fight through waves of increasingly difficult enemies. Expect the standard enemies to make a comeback, nothing new there, but they do tend to appear in great numbers. You must also bear this in mind: If one person dies, it is game over (apparently falling off the cliff in the easy arena doesn't count for this, since it allows you to respawn.) You're still allowed to heal your teammates, but it's best to make sure that everyone in the group is suited to the task since you are only as strong as your weakest link in this case.
The game doesn't grant you a whole lot in loot for your efforts. No new or better weapons have, as of yet, surfaced, but there are a few new mods that are actually fairly useful. The arenas do have one other major perk and that is the amount of XP and money you will get. That, on its own, is worth it for this DLC since most of the exploits for money and experience have been patched. Although you don't get much in the way of weaponry, there is a workbench in each arena so you can make your melee weapons last, but don't expect to be using your guns too much since ammo drops are few and far between.
The arena are fairly fun as they are not just standard levels with different faces. Each of them has something different that makes it unique. One is a cliff that you can easily fall off of (A), one is a night time jungle level where you can see except by the fire or by your flashlight (D), one is a swamp where the tall grass can impede your view in certain areas (C), and one is a very large and complex abandoned jungle structure (B.)
The achievements are a mixture of standard and some interesting ones, but all of them are easily obtainable and will take very little in the way of grinding. A few might be easier with an extra person or two, but don't expect too much trouble.
In total, this DLC is pretty good, worth the buy for people who like the game anyway, but hopefully the creators learn from their mistakes and put out future DLC packs a little quicker.

The only DLC from Dead Island to carry achievements with it is the wonderful and Bloody Bloodbath Arena DLC. In this DLC you find the secret base of a group of soldiers whose mission it is to try and eliminate as many of the undead as possible. Since they are kind fellows they even allow you to risk your life to go out into their pre-constructed arena’s to fight off the hordes of undead for money and exp.

There are 4 arena’s ranging from various difficulties. You have a mountain side cave, an overgrown swamp which makes locating the infected difficult, a night-time jungle village and an old military bunker in the jungle. The arena’s vary in size and also vary in the types of enemy that will spawn at each wave. However there are no new enemies to be seen, still the original group of walkers, thugs, suiciders, rams, floaters, butchers and normal infected.

As most “Horde” based game modes do, you will start off on wave 1 with very few enemies of a very weak nature before eventually working your way up to the higher waves which feature non-stop enemies and a greater frequency of the harder infected to keep things challenging. In terms of reward the only real good thing from the arenas is the money and EXP you will gather. Items are not that common although they can appear and I have found a nice new Katana from the Arena but that’s roughly it.

Money is a lot more common and can be farmed pretty easily on some of the easier arenas. There is a new shop as well as a giant chest that operates like Jin to store or take out your items should you need to. Each arena also has its own work-bench so you can repair your weapons mid wave should you need to.

There are 10 achievements of which only 2 require another co-op player. The achievements are not too difficult with the most annoying I found to be complete 15 waves with each individual character, but that is time consuming not difficult. Overall a pretty easy and fun 250G I would say.

This DLC is ALOT better with friends take it from me. However it is not too bad on your own as well. The whole co-op element allows you to literally tank out waves after waves of undead to try and match your survival skills to the horde of infected. The only annoying thing however is that if one person dies then the whole arena has to be restarted. This is why I would advise friends and possibly not randomers. It also serves as a good way to rack up kills for challenges or achievements, particularly on the easy maps like Arena C.

If you asked me if this is worth it, I would say it depends. If you have friends who enjoy Dead Island like yourself than yes I would say this is worth it. I personally got this with a GOTY edition so it came with the game and if I had the friends I would consider downloading this myself for the mindless slaughter alongside good company.

The long awaited DLC for the Game, and it wasn't a let down.
800MSP is a fair price for a good amount of content and Achievements.
You got 4 different looking arenas for all you survival thirsty zombiekillers.

The Acheivements aren't that hard and they make sense.
But the greatest Thing about the DLC is the "Permabox" what i call the box
in the middle of the arena.

And the best addition is the "permabox" in the arena,
so you don't have to wait till Jin shows up on your 2nd playthrough to get your items.

It's not the greatest DLC ever, it's a good one, had many funny hours with it.

Note: If you own the Special Edition of Dead Island you do not have to purchase this DLC.

Input the code found in your box under the Ripper Mod code, and when you start the game it will prompt you to download the DLC. If you quit or exit the screen while downloading, you have to go to your download manager to download again, the code is only redeemable once.

If you have already beaten the game with a character and can't get back to the island, you can pick new game + with your character, then complete the story missions until you get to the lighthouse. Then you can fast travel to the DLC arena.
