    *Spoiler-Free Review*

So I played through Asura's Wrath multiple times, getting all the achievements, and aside from the grindiness of getting 100% I really enjoyed it. But the "true ending"? The fact that I had to shell out $7.00 for DLC to see the real ending pissed me off. It was a dick move on the part of the publisher.

    But it turns out...

It's awesome. It raised my overall opinion of this game from 4 stars to 5 stars. It's easily one of the best DLC purchases I've made, and I felt compelled to write a review to persuade other fence-sitters to buy it today.

LENGTH: 4 episodes. My casual run showed 27 minutes, my S-Rank hard run ended at 21. Plus cut scenes, of course. Overall it took me 2 to 2 1/2 hours for two full playthroughs and clean-up.

PLOT: Picks up from the True Ending. If you haven't gotten the True Ending, the 2-minute intro sequence is enough to mostly bring you up to speed.

It's in the same style as the rest of the game with many minutes of original cut-scenes and ties everything up extremely well. It isn't Dante or Shakespeare but I found it very satisfying and even moving at points - which was a surprise.

GRAPHICS, MUSIC, ETC: Same quality as the main game. There are a couple of new locations but nothing earth-shattering. That is, you may blow up some planets, but you know what I mean.

FIGHTS: Mostly duels. There were a couple "meh" moments, but overall they were solid and the final battle was EPIC - it was one of my favorite boss battles ever, in any game, on any system. I'd rant about how amazing it was, and why, but obviously that would make this non-spoiler free.

DIFFICULTY: My 5-year old son finished it earlier today on Easy mode with only the Defender gauge, netting him all of the achievements except one (he's kinda awesome). Getting the last achievement requires the Obliterator gauge, possibly the Augur gauge, or an absolute mastery of the game - but with the Obliterator gauge it isn't any harder than the rest of the game.

SUMMARY: If you didn't like the game you won't like this. But if, like me, you really enjoyed the game and aren't getting this because you are offended that they put the real ending in a DLC pack, or you are waiting for it to come down to 1/2 price, or you got distracted by Borderlands 2, or whatever, suck it up and buy Episode IV NOW. You won't regret it.

MAH BOI 420It does seem like a bit of a dick move to make us pay for the true ending, but the main game ended satisfyingly enough to warrant a justifiable extension; maybe they could have done more to conceal the fact that it wasn't really the end of the game, even in the "True" Ending. Good enough end to the game, though this was.

The NexCompletely agree with your review!

Wish I read this earlier. I kinda hesitated to buy the DLC, because I was pissed to throw another 7 bucks into this. Turns out - as you said - it's totally worth it. I really enjoyed some of the creative QTE Parts, especially the fight with Yasha and the last boss fight!

As I finished the main storyline, I found that I was somewhat disappointed with ending. It was alright but it left many unexplained answers such as: Who is the Golden Spider? Then I unlocked the secret ending and wondered if there was going to be a sequel to the game. After some research I discovered that there was some DLC, and needed to get it right away. Safe to say I wasn't disappointed and it was well worth the money.

    STORY
This is probably the ending of all endings. I've never encountered something so epic before in a game such as this. God of War was great and you felt like you were truly bringing about chaos but this is just bring down reality.

I won't try to spoil anything about the previous game but I'll explain that the ending of the previous game had a secret ending in which the fight wasn't over for Asura and his wrath couldn't finish yet. You continue to fight to rescue Mithra from now the creator of all Mantra, Chakravartin. Asura overcomes insurmountable odds once again and becomes even more powerful than ever but still faces difficult tasks. Just like in the regular story, there's many scenes that tug you emotionally. You'll feel for Asura and Yasha deeply and the struggles they have to endure in order to be in a free world. This episode doesn't feel short and adds a fair amount of game time in terms of watching the scenes and playing.

Some of the extra content that features in this downloadable content is one of my favourite parts about it is that you can watch certain scenes that they wanted to make the game, but were hand drawn instead. These videos are sometimes rough drafts and just displaying the scene and how they wanted to do it. I love it because it shows what was happening off screen (such as Asura destroying a whole fleet of Gohma with no arms). These animations are a great addition and gives you a sense of how big they wanted to make the game but didn't have the resources, time or space in order to add them in. I'm glad it was included into the DLC.

    GAMEPLAY
Gameplay hasn't changed, everything is basically the same as the main storyline. Something worth noting in the DLC though is the increase in directional prompts with the joysticks and a major increase in button prompts. This adds to the tension of the game and you'll find your hand spazzing a lot more than usual in order to hit these prompts. Some of the joystick combinations in term of pointing them in different directions is intricate and adds some delicacy to the gameplay. There aren't any new enemies added to the game, they're all basically the same weather or not they're the immortal lackies or the Gohma.

You're still able to use Yasha in this content and there is also a mid-air battle scene that's unique to the DLC while falling off a platform. It's difficult to navigate while battling through this scene but it's still not very different in terms of gameplay. If you're looking for a unique experience when it comes to gameplay, it's not in this downloadable content. We can only hope for some form of sequel.

    ACHIEVEMENTS
These are fairly easy compared to the normal game. Most of them are simply to beat the game with one being the classic beating it on Hard mode while earning an S rank on each chapter. I found the DLC a lot more tedious than the main story and it'll be a bit more difficult to complete it on Hard. Completing the levels on this also earn towards Retail achievements in terms of stacking amount of times you use Burst and such.

    SUMMARY
This is the ultimate ending, and a fantastic one to boot. It wraps up the story so neatly and makes you feel like the biggest badass of gaming history through Asura. I can see how the developer included this as DLC to earn more money and have more content as it wouldn't be able to fit on the disc and simply download it later, but it still would have been nice to have everything done in one go on the physical copy. You can't just buy the game without getting the DLC, it's a must buy.
