Considering the ghost town that is the Overlord servers this DLC isn't worth the money unless you are going for the achievements. The new Silent Hall map makes it extremely easy to get all four survivor achievements in a single go, so if you're obsessed with getting the survivor achievements this may be a good buy.
In terms of the extra pillage and slaughter there isn't much there for you since you'll have a hard time getting a game going anyway, especially on a DLC map.
The new pillage maps aren't very good. They involve stealing maidens from villages to take back to your portal for a cash equivalent. It sounds funny in theory, but ends up being frustrating as you personally must knock down the maidens then personally direct your minions as they carry the maiden away. Sometimes the maiden will glitch on the ground and simply cannot be picked up, causing a frustrating scene as the maidens are somewhere few and far between.
The new slaughter maps are basically new slaughter maps. There isn't much else to them. Same stuff, different day...I mean map. If you think getting a non-pre-arranged slaughter match is hard to get going on the regular maps, these ones are deserted.
If you have a buddy to play with online, feel free to get it. That's what I did. A friend and I played the game online, selecting a time to both be on. It made it easy to find each other since we were literally the only people online for these maps. If you don't have someone to play with that you can coordinate in advance it's not worth the money, even the 5 bucks that this costs.
Hell mode is Overlord on hard. There is no new content. It's simply more difficult, and the Overlord himself is far weaker. If you're obsessed with getting every achievement then feel free to go ahead, otherwise it's not really worth the effort.
Overall, if you love Overlord, and you have someone you know will get on to play with you, this is a cheap way to expand on a great game. If you don't have someone to play with that you can coordinate with ahead of time, this would be a complete waste of five dollars. |
