    Specs:

released on March 29, 2009 this is the third title update to the Gears of Wars 2 title. One of the most important updates in this pack is the inclusion of the experience-based ranking system, in which players could only gain through public multiplayer. (The Dark Corners update would allow for Hordes to contribute XP).

Another contribution to multiplayer is the inclusion of the bots. These npc allow for quicker matches, If a human player drops out or loses connection to the match, a bot (a npc) substitutes said player. It should be noted that these bots are hardcore killing machines often times besting some of the best players. As well very often can these bots ruin a boosting session as players cannot control the bot to stand down or take cover.

    Maps:

Courtyard offers player a rather open map that allows for minimal hiding spaces, although you can lose someone due to the size of the map. It's simple layout allows for excellent communication among teammates.

Fuel Depot probably one of the better maps for team vs team multiplayer games. The 'T' design of the map essentially forces which team to become better shooters and crafty soldiers in order to gain a win. Although one draw back to the map is that it's basic layout makes it easy for players to predict spawn points and rack up spawn kills.

Grind Yard perhaps the more well rounded map of the and still probably one of the more forgettable maps. This big map allows you to chase and run around with other players or bots. As well it offers a plethora of hiding places and even a high tower to allow for sniping.

Underhill can be broken into two parts. The hill which can only be stormed from one side split into 2 lanes. This can allow you rest assured as you know where the enemy is coming from and with some heavy fire power you can keep them at bay, Although their is no ammo spawn on top of or along the hill, Which is where the bottom of the hill comes to play. Smack in the middle of the map is a retracting door garage. This room has two points of entry with 2 additional side windows that can allow for gun fire. A veteran tam can turn this garage into a power house.

    Achievements:
You are given six achievements of which each one can be stacked with another in this pack. These include winning and playing a match of any type on each of the four maps. As well, completing 10 and 50 waves of horde on any of the four maps. And lastly reaching levels 50 and 100.

The most notable of this pack and ultimately the game as a whole is Veteran Gear. Gamers must reach a level of 100. This achievement has prompted Epic to create various events in which they include an XP multiplier to make this achievement bearable.

    Overall:
This update offers its' players many hours of replay hours by including challenging achievements. It also addresses it's multiplayer issues by allowing npc to join in on multiplayer matches. Which depending on your opinion does or does not fix the problem of Epic and its servers. Lastly the maps offered in this pack certainly add a spice of variety among possible choices of where to gain your XP. Good luck gaining your wings!
