The continued success of Ninjabee's Kefling series has spawned a new DLC pack, it was announced today. Hot on the heels of A World of Keflings, Andrew Hill, head of Public Relations and Marketing at Ninjabee, released a glimpse of the new DLC pack in a press release.

Everyone here at Ninjabee has been so excited about the warm reception that our Keflings games have gotten. Because of all of the wonderful compliments we have been getting, we are announcing that the first expansion to A World of Keflings will be released on Monday, April 18. European gamers will have to wait several months before downloading, though, due to legal issues.

Steve Taylor, the creator of Keflings and the President of Ninjabee, added his enthusiasm for the expansion, entitled "A Bureaucracy of Keflings."

"This expansion showcases some of the more practical aspects of dealing with a population of the tiny people. A Bureaucracy of Keflings forces you to confront all new obstacles to building your town, such as unionized workers, who won't tolerate being kicked around. Piles of forms must be shuffled from the Town Hall to each workshop and back again, but you can tasks Keflings to do the job for you. Resource gathering has also been tweaked, as players now must train tax collectors to visit workshops and other buildings so that the properties won't be condemned.

"I really like the new changes," said Taylor. "Like the rest of the Kefling games, the player will be able to travel to different regions and build cities, but making new buildings will take more than just blueprints. For our fans, I hope that they will be as excited about the new features as I am."

Obtaining building permits and bribing officials to allow rezoning in environmentally protected areas will add exciting new gameplay. Other new tasks include using tax revenues to hire lobbyists to participate in the new parliamentary minigame.

"Lobbying adds another wrinkle to what we see as a fascinating twist in the Kefling world," Taylor said. Staffers will help guide players through the process, which essentially involves providing sizeable campaign donations in order to ensure the survival of the Kefling domain. In addition, players will find themselves in a virtual tug-of-war with legislators. Speech debates will allow players to match their wits against politicians looking to raze your kingdom. Look for an increase in time required to finish the game, which will likely take years to complete due to new code regulations.

As Taylor says, "The Kingdom and World of Keflings was just the beginning. This time it's war... against the rising tide of paper pushers looking to tie players up in red tape." Every aspect of the bureaucracy will be trying to keep the player from breaking unions and realizing the ultimate goal of building a shopping mall on reclaimed swamp land.

Also present in the game is the appearance of unions. Picketing Keflings will block construction of your buildings unless you divert tax revenues toward higher wages, benefits and child care.

"Rising health care costs are making it difficult for Keflings in today's society to care for their children, and players need to be able to respond to that. I think that this will vastly improve the multiplayer experience, as other players can help to hire strike breakers and relocate endangered species into other regions of the world."

Lakes will have to be drained while roads, which were not in earlier versions of the game, must be built to allow for construction traffic. Factories will have to be built to create the new machinary necessary to bulldoze through rain forests. Once lands are cleared, players will need to set up committee meetings with other online players to determine how best to lay water and sewer lines, as well as electrical cables. Obviously, these meetings may take several hours at a time, which should provide for new experiences for gamers.

"Look for an all new adventure this time around as we seek to create a better adventure for the player. Something seemed to be missing from before... bureaucracies were just the next logical progression."

The first two sentences count, too, and you missed a few in the middle.
