Due to a couple of discussions in chat and on friend feeds, I thought it would be somewhat useful to make a list of games which have their own in game timer to track how much time people have played on it (without using Raptr or something similar).
By in-game timer I mean: A clock that consistently increases in the amount. A clock that can be viewed. A clock that shows how much time you have actually played as opposed to amount of game time.
Unless otherwise noted, all timers only include time spent in gameplay. Battlefield 1943 Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - Multiplayer only Borderlands - Viewable in save file Blue Dragon Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Separate for Campaign, Co-op, and Multiplayer Call of Juarez EA Sports Active 2 The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Viewable in save file link hidden link hidden Fallout 3 - Viewable in save file Fallout: New Vegas Final Fantasy XIII - includes time spent in menus Forza Motorsport 3 Game Room link hidden Infinite Undiscovery - Viewable in save file Just Cause 2 The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon Lost Odyssey The Orange Box - Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2 Ep. 1, Half-Life 2 Ep. 2 | Viewable in save file Red Dead Redemption The Saboteur link hidden |

Infinite Undiscovery does as well. Wouldn't basically every single RPG game have one?
Also does it count if you save a game and it shows your current running time playing? Like Fallout 3, Oblivion, etc. etc. |

Yes, a timer that gets shown on a save screen does count, as long as it's accurate, though I'd need a confirmation of which games actually have it. |

Borderlands - each individual save file has a timer on it.
Game Room - will give you the total amount of time spent playing games in your arcade, but this doesn't include the time spent customizing your arcade and I don't think it includes challenges either.
Are you wanting arcade games as well? I'm pretty sure that both Keflings games and Battlefield 1943 have timers on them, but I'd have to check. |

Star Ocean: The Last Hope The Orange Box (Half Life 2, Ep 1 & 2) - visible when saving/loading Bayonetta - each section has a timer on it
Ones that I'm not sure of: Tales of Vesperia and Dante's Inferno |

Unless a notable number of people (say three or four) can speculate it, I'm not putting the game on the list. Rhyolitic said:Bayonetta - each section has a timer on itDo you mean a normal level timer, which times how long you spent in the level? Which always starts at zero whenever a new level is loaded. If you do, i'm not counting that. |

If you do, i'm not counting that. The game is divided up into chapters which is then further subdivided into different sections. Each section has a timer as well as each chapter having a timer. There's either an achievement or an unlock (can't remember which) for beating the entire game in 3 hours. You can go through and try to reduce your completion time for individual levels.
So, I guess "timer" in the sense of an aggregate of all the time spent in the game is a misnomer. Rather a timer clocking your lowest time per section. Compared to say, Star Ocean's timer. |

| Blue Dragon has a timer visible from the save screen (and I even believe the menu screen) that shows time spent playing. |
