Starting May 8th, pull in your buddies with an invite code
Of course, we know that many of you have already been enjoying the Gears of War 3 beta since April 25th, or April 18th or even the 15th for the impatient amongst you, but certainly you still know one or two stragglers who have yet to get in the beta action, right? Well, for those individuals who have waited, their chance to join the beta is coming on May 8th. The catch is that they need to receive an invite from someone who has already diligently been beta testing over the past couple of weeks.
Gamers who have been participating in the beta can earn up to five "buddy tokens", which they may then pass out to whomever they choose. These tokens may then be redeemed for beta access. Everyone in the beta has already earned one token (so congratulations!), but US gamers may earn others by purchasing Gears content from the Marketplace or adding a 12-month Gold subscription to their account. Buying-in isn't the only way to earn tokens, however. Those people who have played 20 hours or more of the beta will also receive a token. In one further show of appreciation to the fanatics out there, those gamers who have played over 100 hours cumulative across any of the Gears of War titles lifetime to date will also earn a token.
Unfortunately, multiple tokens are limited to US residents due to legal restrictions, but everyone who has played the beta, no matter whey they live, has the chance to unlock one buddy token.
You only have until this Wednesday, May 4th, to earn buddy tokens. The codes will be sent to your email address on May 8th. Then it will be up to you to give those people you deem worthy of your buddy token a chance to have one week to enjoy the beta before its May 15th conclusion. |

But I think most just play it for fun and not really for the unlockables... |

Is this all for a gold gun?I play betas of games I am looking foward to like this and Reach, it is usually free or included in something you were planning on buying anyway. So basically my answer is : it's fun and it gives me a taste of a game that is coming out before I buy the full game and it's just a nice pit stop during the wait for the retail title. |

But I think most just play it for fun and not really for the unlockables...If you do certain Actions during the Beta you unlock Skins for Weapons and A character Skin all in the Retail Game
Cole Train Character Skin (Complete 50 matches then Complete 10 Matches as Cole Train)
Gold Retro Lancer Skin (Complete 90 Matches then get 100 kills with the Golden Retro Lancer)
Flaming Weapons HammerBurst/Lancer/Sawn-Off/Gnasher
(These all require you to Complete a Match during a certain week of the Beta for instance this week if you Complete a Match you unlock the Flaming Sawn-Off Skin)
These will all be Unlocked come the 20th(USA)/23rd(Europe + Everywhere else) of September in the Full Retail Game if you Unlocked them during the Beta.. |

The beta MP is already pretty fine tuned so it's fun to play even without all the unlockables. With that AND unlockables, I think it's needless to say I've lost several hours to the beta!  |
