Care to take a guess at how many participants there were?
Microsoft released a host of figures today related to the recently completed Gears of War 3 Beta. While many of them are impressive, perhaps the most impressive is the sheer number of participants. Care to hazard a guess? No? Well, here it is:
1.29 million
That's right, 1,290,000 people logged into the beta at some point over its 4 week run. Those participants, who represented 143 countries, logged in a combined 249 years worth of gameplay during the Multiplayer Beta period.
Perhaps these stats make it unsurprising that Gears of War 3 also became the fastest-ever Xbox exclusive title to surpass one million pre-orders.
Several other stats were also made available:
· More than 11 million matches completed
· More than 927 million kills recorded
· More than 131 million executions performed
· More than 23 million deaths by chainsaw
· Nearly 23 BILLION bullets fired
· 460 million ribbons and 294 million medals earned
· 435 thousand people earned the beta exclusive Thrashball Cole skin to use in the retail game when it launches in September
· 234 thousand people earned the beta exclusive Gold Retro Lancer to use in the retail game when it launches in SeptemberAre you not amongst the million who have already pre-ordered? Gears of War 3 is scheduled to release worldwide on September 20th, 2011, with the Japanese release following on September 22nd.

| I like the franchise but didn't see what the big deal with the beta was. I played it, it was ok but nothing revolutionary. Whats more important is that if that many people liked its gonna be a sales monster. |

| I enjoyed the beta. Definitely glad to have earned the Retro Lancer in the last day. It would have been like getting a game to 99% completion and never finishing it. ;) |

| I was invited to join the beta by a friend but whats the point of playing for a few days and then knowing you have months to wait for the game to be released,I hope all enjoyed it but to me its pointless! |

That means around 82 kills each match? wtfSome of those King of the Hill matches were insane like that. I stepped into one where the winning team totaled well over 300 kills. The top guy on the team had 77 himself. When the hammer was introduced to trenches, kill counts went way up. o_O |

that was the worst Gears III multiplayer then the last 2 gears if u screw up or don't try to get any kills they take your XP & your level up rank away i hate all 3 gears of war multiplayers the campain nothing wrong with it  |
