New artwork showcases more game locations!
As promised, new information has emerged from the shadows of the proverbial E3 jungle regarding Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2, the sequel to FPS title Sniper: Ghost Warrior.
Interactive City, the developer behind both titles has provided extensive details about the sequel's key features and a heads-up on the background of the latest game's main protagonist, Captain Cody "Sandman" Anderson. Here's an overview of the key features:
Diverse Gameplay •Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 takes all the breathless anticipation, precise controls and skillful fun of sniping and mixes it with stealth and silent elimination play, action scenes, a co-operative move playbook •Night vision and thermo vision goggles to use in limited visibility situations •Vehicle sections are a new addition to the Sniper series •Multiple and varied locations including urban, jungle, mountain and tundra environments THE Authentic, Modern Sniper Experience •Realistic ballistics take into account the player's location, wind speed and direction, breathing rate and distance from the target •Snipers do not fight alone in the real world and nor do they in Sniper 2. Working with your spotter is key •All environments are based on real-world locations •An array of faithfully recreated weapons are at your disposal, including six sniper rifles, three assault rifles, heavy machine guns, and more More Skill, More Rewards •Silent kills allow for quiet enemy elimination and successful execution sees the player rewarded with a brutal kill animation •Bullet cam shows particularly successful hits •Limb dismemberment from large calibre guns and explosions Innovation & Technology •Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 is built on CryEngine3, the most advanced multi-platform development tool for current-generation consoles and for PC •New equipment for stealth gameplay •Multiplayer modes designed especially for sniper duels. •Epic story crafted by acclaimed writers Akin to the information given in the first section of the above quote, several new pieces of artwork appear to quash the original perception (based on the screenshot linked in the first paragraph) that the locations featured in Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 would have a purely oriental feel. Take a look at the following screenshots to make up your own mind:

Anderson grew up in the cold wilderness of Alaska, where he learned the skills of hunting, marksmanship, and tracking from an early age. After his father was killed in action while serving with the Marines in Vietnam, Anderson was raised by his Native American mother. From the time he was ten years old, Anderson hunted wild game to put food on his family’s dinner table. Anderson joined the Marine Corp after high-school and trained as a scout-sniper, attached to the elite Marines’ elite “Force Recon” unit. Anderson is descended from a long line of American soldiers. He was raised in the tradition of patriotism and service to his country.Originally confirmed back in January, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 is scheduled to hit retail shelves during Q1 2012. |

As excited as I am for this sequel, I can't help noticing they seem to be heading the direction of "make it mass marketable". Sniper should stay a great niche game. |

| Looks nice and all but unless they fixed the rediculous AI , this game is going to be rewened like the first. Seriously the AI could find and hit you at an obserd distance. |

I've heard either horrible or epic things about the first one. No in between.
This one looks to have way better graphics already, however. |

| I couldn't finish the first one. Once the game broke away from being a sniper I lost all interest. Maybe this one won't make the same mistake. |

| The first game had a lot of things wrong with it, but it was so much fun to play. When I heard it was getting a sequel the first thought that popped into my head was "How....?" but now I'm pretty glad that it is. This game looks amazing, graphics are astounding from the screens, but those are also pictures so there could be let down. I think the CryEngine will be just fine though. Story will once again be foolish and lack as is with most FPS games, but it looks like a shit-ton of fun to play so far! Looking forward to it! |

The first could have been good, but the story was pretty poor, gameplay was a little broken and it has one of the worst endings I've witnessed in a game. Its like eh? Is that it?
Multiplayer was shocking, 16 people in ghillie suits, hiding in bushes for 30 mins.
I'll probably give this a rent despite all of this just because I got 100% on the first. |

| I keep trying to get into the multiplayer but it is annoying as hell trying to find people while they sit and camp in one spot and spawn rape you. Storyline isn't that great either but this one is starting to look promising. |
