Preparing to take the diveA couple of weeks ago, we
spotlighted several upcoming and ongoing community events. One of them was the upcoming, 2nd-annual Bean Dive Day and guess what folks? It's almost here!
So, let me refresh your memory first about what the Bean Dive is. Devised by our very own
Beanpotter, the Bean Dive is an event which invites you to take all those games on your shelf (or your hard drive) that you have not yet played, and fire them up, popping a minimum of one achievement in each.
"Why would you do that?!" I hear the completionists gasp. For the challenge of course! Through
gaming sessions here on TA and whatever other methods you prefer (which don't violate any form of cheating policy!), your goal is to get your completion percentage back to its formerly lofty heights before the next annual Bean Dive Day, July 7th, 2012, comes to pass.
If you plan to Dive and haven't done so already, make sure to submit the games that you're using in the Bean Dive into the
Bean Diving Board thread. Make sure to go and post your pre-Dive stats as well. The Bean Dive Emergency Recovery Program, or Bean DERP will also begin tomorrow, and it aims to help in the creation of sessions to get your stats back on track. If you want to take part in that element of the 2nd-annual Bean Dive, be sure to check out
The Bean DERP thread.Lastly, and probably most importantly to those of you fortunate enough not to have a backlog and are thus not able to participate in the Dive, we have some instructions from Beanpotter about what you can do to avoid the explosion your Friends Feed is going to experience in the next day or so.
Beanpotter says:
If you have friends that are planning to dive, you may want to move them on to a seperate friends list so your Friend Feed isn't overrun by the madness. To do this, simply click on 'Edit Friends' at the bottom of your friends list, then click 'Edit Friends Groups And Settings', click 'Add' and give the new group a name but don't tick the box that says 'On Friend Feed'. You can now transfer any of your Diving friends on to your new list and they won't appear on your FF until you put them back.
Personally, I'll be diving close to 30 games this year, but that's nowhere near as many as some other people! Feel free to post your Bean Dive goals in the thread below. You may even be able to get the jump on creating a couple of the sessions you'll need to hit your goal by next year!
