It's a magical world out there
Peter Molyneux the boss at Lionhead has stated that there will be no melee combat in their upcoming title Fable: The Journey, citing the lack of recoil possible from Kinect and the game.
We could have done melee weapons, but the one thing I hate about melee weapons, and guns as well, is that the human brain is encoded to expect recoil from those things.
Whenever I swing a sword and I hit something on screen, the visuals and the sound isn’t enough. We could have done what Zelda did well on Twilight Princess, where it doesn’t really matter what you do, what happens on-screen is the best thing. But I wanted people to feel powerful, to feel power, and that’s all about you.So no guns and no swords, but lots of magic!
Fable: The Journey is scheduled to be released in 2012. |

| Even if there were melee and ranged weapons in it, I don't think I would use them, casting spells on Kinect should be awesome :D |

| Guns aren't generally considered melee unless you be pistol whipping someone. |

| This is disappointing. The best thing about Fable is the three types of attack. Hell, many of the puzzles were focussed on them!! |

| These games are getting worse each time, within the next couple releases they'll probably be completely unplayable. |

| Wait, so a game known for it's ridiculously shallow combat is dropping 2 attack types out of the three? Oh my. |

| Loved the first and third fable but this sounds even worse than fable 2. what is Molyneux smoking to think this is even going to be good. |

I thought the first Fable was fun and engaging but pretty shallow. I thought, "A good start, they can add more depth in the sequels."
...
Little was I too know that that the RPG-lite original would be the deepest one.
Lionhead and BioWare must have a bet between them as to who can dumb down and cut as many features out of their sequels as possible before people stop buying their games completely. |

I'm soooooo worried that Skyrim is going to be a tremendous let down to me personally and another huge commerical success. :/ |

| Is all people do is complain? Don't like it, don't buy it. I'm gonna skip this because I don't like motion control, but I did love the original Fable and Fable III. Also no need to drag Bioware into this. |

| Casting magic looks fun and I'll still probably pick this up, but melee would have been cool to have. Oh well, as long as the game doesn't suffer without it then I'm still pumped! |
I aim to misbehave! |
