EDIT: October 4th release date confirmed.
I'll be honest, I had almost forgotten about the DLC and then I read this:
Joystiq.com said: Good news: the Portal 2 DLC hasn't been delayed. Instead of moving it out of its "summer" release window, Valve is releasing the DLC as late in that window as possible. Speaking to Kotaku at Gamescom, Valve marketing director Doug Lombardi said that the DLC, which includes new maps, leaderboards, and challenge modes, will be released in mid-September. That's "still technically summer," he noted.
If you're upset about this DLC arriving later than you expected it to, but still within its stated release window, let us remind you: this is more Portal 2, that Valve is giving you for free. "Thank you" is pretty much the only appropriate response to that. |

I can't really complain about free DLC that Valve is actually delivering "on time". This is Valve, the same company that took it's sweet time with fixing the glitchy L4D/L4D2 achievement... so it's all good. Let's hope for some free achievements with this DLC. |

I was wondering what was happening with this, and it's nice to hear that they will be bringing out even more free DLC - that's why I love Valve.
Suprised there hasn't been any DLC already though, Portal is the sort of game you would expect lots of DLC with |

Not good news if it's true :( Still, if any game has a shot at being an exception, this is certainly one of them. How long has the rule been in effect? |

Not good news if it's true :( Still, if any game has a shot at being an exception, this is certainly one of them. How long has the rule been in effect? It was just after Orange Box was released I think, because everyone was asking questions about the achievement rules since that had 99 and most people thought 50 was the limit. The rules that I know of, there may be more, are
1000GS max at release, 250 allowed from paid DLC per quarter after release (can wait 6 months and release 1 500 GS DLC for example), up to 1750 200GS max at release for arcade, 50 per quarter after release, up to either 300 or 400 don't remember For achievement numbers, I believe the limit is 50 at release for retail and 12 for arcade but I'm not positive. And lastly, free DLC is no longer allowed to have achievements -- again, not sure if this affects Title Updates I would think it does, but I'm pretty sure Portal 2 is going to list it as DLC anyways. |

| Really looking forward to the DLC, haven't played the game in so long after beating it... such a shame that a brilliant game doesn't have much replay value. Hopefully the DLC will change that |

| I recall reading recently that Valve had to "work out" with Microsoft the freeness of this DLC, so maybe it does have achievements... why else would it require finesse? |

What if Valve's plan all along is to release tomorrow and sabotage the Gears 3 launch? They could decimate sales, steal thunder, and bring gamers to their senses - all in one fell swoop! #just_plain_ridiculous |

*CSTYeah Valve even said that was why it wasn't released in what most people considered summer, because technically it was still going. Where's my DLC Valve?!?! Back in August Valve said mid-September. Even by being exact like the like, mid-September is technically over, and soon all September will be over... hurry up! |
