Use Innistrad Cards 12 days before anyone else in the world
The first DLC pack for Magic: The Gathering - DotP 2012 is now available. In case you missed our original coverage, here's the product description to get you caught up to speed:
You can become the Archenemy for the first time in the Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 Expansion, taking on three rival Planeswalkers at once. Plus, enjoy three new playable decks, four new unlockable cards for each of the ten original decks, four new puzzling challenges, new cards from Innistrad, and seventeen new single-player campaign levels. Put your spell-slinging skills to the test and try to defeat Liliana Vess, Ajani Goldmane, and Ral Zarek to unlock their new decks! (This expansion pack requires the most recent Title Update for Magic 2012.) I understand that may not seem too exciting for you, but the most important part of that quote is "new cards from Innistrad." You see, Innistrad is, as mentioned previously, not available yet in stores. This means that starting today you can play with digital cards a full 12 days before the Pre-release.
You can view all officially revealed cards from Innistrad here: Innistrad Card Image Gallery.
I am not sure exactly which Innistrad cards will be available, but allow me to blow your mind as to the new card type being introduced for this expansion:

That's right - double sided cards. I am fairly certain that these are a bit too complex for Magic 2012 to include, but nonetheless you can check out the Innistrad Mechanics page and learn just how these mind-benders work.
"Ascend into Darkness" is available for 400 MSP and can be purchased here. 3 new achievements have been added for a total of 50 GS.

| In the paper game, you have a checklist card that has a regular Deckmaster back, and you check mark which card it's suppose to be from a list of all the day side cards. You then take that card from outside the game and replace the checklist card with it, so obviously you have to actually have the card. |

| One of the few games I still play where I'm not working towards achievements - apart for as long as it takes to get these DLC ones - then it's back to "just for fun" status again. |

| the double face cards require a check list card representing the opposite side of the card to be played but the arcade version flips the card for you but the actual card game requires both cards in order to be played/transformed |

Spent 30 spare hrs playing it for fun according to xbox and the nice updates they give out. Hope they bring dlc regularly so we don't have to wait to long. As far as the new integration with double sides, reminds me of the duel cards back in the day (fire and ice for example). Anyways I'm sure my friends will go nuts when they hit stores. There Always running new deck ideas. |

I don't mind this new machnic. |

I don't mind this new machnic.they wont allow double sided opaque sleeves they require the checklist to play dont worry if you get a double sided face card in a booster the checklist takes the place of the tip card so you have both |

Seems functionally the same as 'flipping' from the Kamigawa set, just more complicated with the card swapping. I wouldn't want to pull cards in and out of sleeves that often.
Seems fine for a virtual version of the game though. |

Seems fine for a virtual version of the game though.This. It's an old mechanic, dressed up and recycled.
Having "full" cards (artwork, abilities, flavor text) is nice, but it seems like a hassle for the real world version. |
