On the 360?? While not the full 1k I would have to say......none of them have actually been truly challenging with all the streamlining, the option of choosing difficulties, etc.

Off of the 360..... Lunar Silver Star Story.

One the 360 the one that comes to my mind would be The Last Remnant, with some though fights. Never finished it because i got bored at the base fights and stoped playing it.

Off the 360 I can remember that the FF VIII End Boss was a problem for me, needed multiple tries to win the fight.

The Last Remnant for me too. I have finished it (for the chievos) but it was really hard, specially with some boss and monsters in the Ancient Ruins.
Magna Carta, on PS2, was also a pain in the ass. Not for the difficulty but way too long and those random fights with a tricky combat system seems to last for eternity (especially near the end).

I would have to say that none of the RPG's that I have played on the Xbox have been annoyingly difficult. The Last Remnant was a challenge and very time consuming. Dark Souls requires a great deal of concentration to avoid premature death. Resonance of Fate requires a lot of grinding but is not too bad provided you do that. It's a hard question to answer really because RPG's by their very nature tend to be only as hard as you choose to make them - normally additional grinding will sort out any annoyances and RPG gamers are normally more than happy to extend the gameplay by indulging in some additional fights.

have to agree with talonius888, none of them are extremely hard on the 360 for me they're mostly fun, just need correct tacts 99% of the time in each game i've played.

off 360, shin megami tensei, nocturne- hitsoshura.... never been so mad at a boss before went on for 90mins and i made a mistake wiped my party took me weeks before i tried him again, that game was extremely difficult at times.

Dark Souls, what a game! It's as if it actively sits in your disk tray at night and thinks of new ways to screw with you! But it keeps me coming back for more all the time! Most people I know haven't finished it and they are "hardcore" gamers unlike myself who are not that good so I feel great about it!

I didn't actually think Dark Souls was too bad to be honest, I mean sure i died a lot while figuring the battle system and by being too hasty, but there at least comes a point in Dark Souls when you actually start believing it's possible, most people who haven't finished it gave up before reaching this point,

I also think the big feel to Dark Souls is very deceptive, it's actually quite a small game, but because you spend so much time dying in the first 30 or so hours, it creates an illusion of being really big. but on starting a new game (not NG+) i made it to Anor Londo in under 3 hours because i knew what i was doing

Don't get me wrong i'm not saying it's easy, just it's not as hard as some i've played, and it's certainly my GOTY,possibly even best game this gen has seen
Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot !!

CoruptAI125 said:I have to agree with last remnant. It's hard is because unless you follow a stat-grind guide you will be completely overwhelmed because enemies level with you. I hate when your enemies level with you, I want to grind for hours and kill everything in one hitI have to agree with you, i've maxed the game and with out the right way to stat grind doing the last boss on the harder version would be very very hard to defeat. Great game though i really enjoyed this, but i don't think it was the hardest rpg for me to finish.

For me so far "touch wood" i haven't come across a rpg yet that has made me say "damn this is hard" but the hardest rpg i've done so far, i would have to say would be resonance of fate, the extra bonus bosses in the after ending dungeon did take me a long time to do. smile

I've not played anything too taxing on the xbox, but I used to play all of the Bioware RPG's on the PC, and the only one I never finished was Icewind Dale 2. Baldurs Gate 2 would be just behind hat in difficulty, just for the last boss fight with Amelyssan.
