Someday, your zombie-slaying will be glitch-free
We all know that it takes a lot to make a game and, since it's such a big process, we also know that, unfortunately, games frequently make it to market with a bug or two. Thankfully, due to patching, these companies can squash these bugs so that we can get the games to perform as they were intended to, even if they didn't ship fully bug-free.
Techland has been busy addressing some of the issues in their hit Zombie-Survival RPG, Dead Island. In fact, they got right to work fixing some of the title's problems by releasing a day one patch.
Today, a second patch has been released. As tweeted on the game's official Twitter account, the patch includes improvements to "matchmaking, AI, quest and escort fixes, visual glitch fixes and a ton more". As with all patches, all you have to do is boot-up the game and you'll be prompted to download it before you start playing.

Oh, good. I've experienced a few glitches, but none of them were gamebreaking. Still, it's good to see even the cosmetic problems fixed quickly.

This game had so much potential too. And its still a pretty good game. But there are so many little things that combine to lessen the experience. I'm glad they're patching it....but the game could have used a few more months in development. By the time they fix them, I'll have already done almost everything in the game, and there will be little motivation to go back through.

I like that they are supporting it after the release, but before the patch I was actually glitch free, but now I actually have an inventory glitch, but still nothing to make me stop playing.

The patch was out yesterday and it made my game crash 5 times, so I cleared my cache to erase the patch and downloaded it once more and its working fine.

my only problem with this game is the driving. WHY CAN'T I LOOK BACKWARDS?!?! the minor glitches are tolerable, even though somewhat annoying at times.

The "Day One Patch" was never actually released on day one. This is that patch.

They won't be seeing any of my £££££ until the game is finished. Sub-par production values and lack-luster (if any) game testing. Standards really are getting worse, if this were any other product they would have to do a re-call. 37 known issues fixed with day one patch!? Developers are using the patch system as an excuse to release garbage and fix it after people complain. It is unfair that people without xbox live are left with a non-completed product and no way to fix it. All this aggravation just so they can meet the release deadline they hyped up for months... assholes.

Now if only we could get a fix to make Purna's "Jackpot" skill seem like it's actually working. xD

so the obvious statement here is that this will be the first for the 360 or will it just be another pc patch only? cuz none of my friends and i ever got a patch for the 360 version on day one or any other day for that matter. then i read on a pc site that the pc was getting the day 1 patch. so i figured reports of the day 1 patch for 360 were just an oops. the 2nd playthrough and matchmaking and leveling up seem to be the big ones. but there are so many little things too. looking forward to putting this in today! :)

The Day One patch appeared to be denied by Microsoft, but given to PS3 and PC users; it created issues via Auto Save, along with Trophy loss. Characters were also wiped.
The new patch however has done nothing malicious to the game or any save data, so feel free to update whenever. |

Tried the game out a few days after release. I never got a patch after reading about it, but then again, I haven't really noticed any glitches or problems that ruin the game for me. Only one glitch I've seen where a zombie will just freeze in motion. But I found it kinda funny and just like to sit there and kick him until he dies anyway. No game breaking problems in it for me at least. A game with a lot of enjoyment packed in.

I think you are being too generous with your opening paragraph, more and more developers are really abusing the update system to release unfinished, bug ridden games quickly. If the game is sucessful it'll be patched but if it isn't you'll be left with a broken product. Not to mention if you don't have access to LIVE then you are just out of luck.

I hope the next patch will correct my glitched 72/72 locations achievement. Its holding me back from 1000ing the game.

What about the people who cannot get access to LIVE? Where the disclaimer on the box to say that the game is unfinished?
It is criminal what developers can get away with these days.. |
