Plus part 5 of the aircraft previews
Namco Bandai's latest instalment in the dog-fighting franchise, Ace Combat Assault Horizon, is a break from the usual mold. Whereas previous games have taken place in fictional cities, this upcoming game will set the campaign and multiplayer modes across real cities and landscapes. Some of the previous screenshots and gameplay videos have given sneak peaks at some of these places, but here are a series of screenshots giving you a less distracting look at three of the locations:
Dubai http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002573.jpg http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002572.jpg http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002571.jpg
Miami http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002582.jpg http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002581.jpg http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002580.jpg
Moscow http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002588.jpg http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002587.jpg http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002586.jpg
The game includes a total of 31 aircraft for players to use. Over four previews, we've been able to take a good look at 20 of these. Part 1 included the F-117A Nighthawk, F-22A, F-35B Lightning II and the PAK-FA. This was followed by part 2, which had the MiG-21 bis, MiG-29A Fulcrum, Su-34 Fullback and Su-47 Berkut. Part 3 gave us the AC-130U Spooky, AH-64D Apache Longbow, B-1B Lancer, B-2 Spirit, MH-60 Blackhawk and Mi-24 Hind. The last preview brought the A-10A Thunderbolt II, F-14D Super Tomcat, F-15C Eagle, F-16C Fighting Falcon and the Su-35 Flanker-E. Finally, the F-4E Phantom II got both a trailer and screenshots when it was confirmed as the bonus aircraft in the Limited Edition.
Here are the screenshots for the latest five aircraft:
F2-A - Attack plane A battle support attack aircraft deployed by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. It emulates the F-16C in airframe shape, but it is equipped with the latest electronic equipment while having the same easy handling and a complete upgrade of maneuvering performance. In order to be prepared for threats from the sea, its anti-warship battle ability is given special consideration. The airframe was remodeled and developed jointly by Japan and the United States, and it is also called the "Viper Zero."http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002574.jpg http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002575.jpg http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002576.jpg
Gripen-C - Multi-role aircraft A true multi-role fighter employed by five countries, including the Swedish Air Force. Features include a small airframe size, short-range takeoff ability, and the potential to equip a diverse array of weapons. With these capabilities, it can use a highway to make a sortie from a hangar dug into a mountain, and it can easily handle a variety of missions by capitalizing on its effortless maneuverability. Its formal name is "JAS-39C." JAS stands for Jakt (fighter), Attack, and Spaning (reconnaissance) because the aircraft is able to perform all these roles, and to switch between all three roles in the air. Its nickname is "Gripen (griffin)."http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002577.jpg http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002578.jpg http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002579.jpg
Mirage 2000-5 - Multi-role aircraft Developed as an advanced air force aircraft, this tailless delta style, small combat aircraft is in service in several countries including the French Air Force. Its light weight results in excellent acceleration performance. The most recent model, the Mirage 2000-5, has improved multiple targeting capabilities from its RDY radar, and it is also furnished with such features as a modernized cockpit gauge, all of which rapidly elevate its combat potential. Its nickname is "Mirage."http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002583.jpg http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002584.jpg http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002585.jpg
Rafale-M - Multi-role aircraft This high performance, omnirole, carrier-based aircraft is the pride of the French Navy. Possessing high level acceleration and turning performance, and equipped with a large quantity of arms including multi lock-on, air-to-air missiles, and long-range dispenser weapons, this craft plays a large role in any kind of air-to-ground or air-to-air mission. Called by the name "Rafale (squall)," its elegant delta and canard wings, and superb aerodynamically shaped air-intake, are distinguishing characteristics.http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002589.jpg http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002590.jpg http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002591.jpg
Typhoon - Fighter plane A state-of-the-art, superior fighter that was developed through a collaboration between Great Britain, Germany, Spain, and Italy. Excellent maneuverability and multi lock-on weaponry make dogfights against numerous opponents its specialty. The combination of the canard wing, called a close-coupled delta, and the delta wing give it great aerodynamics and agility befitting the name "Typhoon."http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002592.jpg http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002593.jpg http://www.trueachievements.com/customimages/002594.jpg

A few things of note: 1) Why not call the Gripen-C by its formal name, the JAS-39C? I didn't recognize the name even though I'd used the plane in Ace Combat 5 almost exclusively. It'd be like calling the F-2A just the "Viper Zero". 2) Are there going to be DLC colors like in Ace Combat 6? I'd love to have a couple from the past games in here, especially the "Ghosts of Razgriz" stuff. Some WW2 paint schemes would be nice, too. 3) Why do we have to wait another 18 days? I can only play the demo so many times... :P
Seriously can't wait for this game to come out. It's been far too long a wait for another Ace Combat game. |

| I played the demo and I was less than impressed - it looked so good from the pics and clips posted earlier. I may still rent this somewhere down the road but I won't be buying it. |

I'm amazed that graphics like this are possible nowadays. Because the skylines of those 3 cities look amazingly detailed, each seems to have distinct, real-life qualities to it also! |
