Planes, cities and skins
Namco Bandai has announced some free and premium DLC for their upcoming dog-fighter Ace Combat Assault Horizon. The developer is promising lots of post-launch DLC for the title, but they have only provided details for the first packs that will be arriving.
Back in March, we announced the details of a competition to design a custom skin for the F-15C fighter plane. The winning skin was "Death Rider", designed by Liu Chi Chun. As promised, this skin will be made available as free DLC to players on launch day. Here are some screenshots of the rather impressive design:

The first premium DLC pack will include a new multiplayer map and three new aircraft. Players will be able to fly over Tokyo in the Su-37 Terminator and Tornado GR.4, as well as the fictional aircraft ASF-X Shinden II. Here is a trailer showing the DLC in action:

Ace Combat Assault Horizon is due to be released on October 11th in North America, October 13th in Australia and Japan, and October 14th in Europe. Check out the details of the Limited Edition. The UK pre-order bonuses can be found here. The F-4E Phantom is the pre-order bonus at select North American and Japanese retailers, but pre-order bonuses for other regions are yet to be confirmed. Those wanting to try the game before making a purchase may want to check out the demo.

i love the Ace Combat series and what not but SERIOUSLY getting annoyed with games making DLC before even releasing the game! i mean before DLC was ever thought up all the extra stuff would be in the game orginally but now the big wigs thing it is good to take out missions and planes and slap 480msp on them and call them DLC!!
Its like 2 fingers to the loyal fans who have to pay sometimes (call of duty) more then double the price of the game for all the DLC! |

| Given how much I enjoy these games I will definitely pick up the DLC at some point but probably not until it is a deal of the week. |

Graphically this game looks amazing. But after playing the demo, I wasn't a fan of the actually gameplay. Wasn't thrilled with the DFM that was pretty much forced on you in order to take out the Leader Targets. I've always played the game from the 3rd person view (where you see your entire plane) and never really liked flying in 1st person view (cockpit view), so having to go into DFM for every Leader Target was kind of annoying.
I doubt i'll pick up the game at launch, but i'll still play it. Most likely gonna rent it and possibly pick it up when it drops down to $20. |

| This game looks awesome but the demo was very disappointing. Might be a rental if I run out of other games to play but that's unlikely. |

I'm another that's disappointed to hear of planned DLC before the game is released. I just don't understand why they do that. Is it enticing to anybody out there? I would think that it would rub the majority of us the wrong way. Not to mention that the game already has a small plane selection (from what's been confirmed) when compared to their major competitor.
Another map was announced, which takes place in Hawaii. Along with that they mentioned other DLC aircraft which include CFA-44 Nosferatu, AV8B Harrier II Plus, YF-23 Black Widow II, F15S/MTD, and KA-50 Hokum. |
My 360 LOVES me! No really, check it out http://360voice.gamerdna.com/tag/StoneyMcChronic |

That contest winner's design is EPIC. O_O Def would use that if I get the game. I don't particularly enjoy DLC being announced before a game's release, but if things fall like I think they will the true fans will def get it. Shame that the DLC map is such a badass place as Tokyo though, wish it was already in the game from the get go! |

All I know is the DLC will need to be priced better than the last Ace Combat, or I won't be getting it. The cost for the plane packs on AC6 was retarded, to put it bluntly.
Still on the wall about this one... not happy with the switch to the real world, and the helicopter mission on the demo was horrible. I'm hoping you can skip them, because it's like a whole other, shittier, game. |

| Yeah it's shame they announce DLC before the game it out but you have to remember most games get printed to disc and are complete 2-3 months before they are released sometimes so DLC is in the works once they finish the development of the game. Perhaps they feel announcing DLC is also a way to let gamers know they will be supporting the game after release. |

| Those graphics are insane...the more I see of this game, the more I want to give it a chance. Even though...I suck at flight sim games! This game would definitely be worth a rental. I'll have to read some reviews as well. |
