It's all weighing down on me

The world of Mercury Hg just expanded as the latest DLC adds more elements to the mix. The "Heavy Elements" pack adds three new achievements worth a total of 50G.

Play through all new content with 30 elements in Discovery mode, with more Bonus elements to unlock and more Challenges to master. The Heavy Elements downloadable content allows you to explore more elements in the world of Mercury Hg. Unlock new achievements as you progress through the new groups in Discovery Mode with full leaderboard support for new best scores and times. The "Mercury Hg: Heavy Elements" pack costs 240 MSP and is available from here.

In addition to this, publisher UTV Ignition has announced the impending arrival of a second DLC pack. "Rare Earth Elements" will add another 30 levels, bringing the total number to 120 levels between the game and the two DLC packs. As with the "Heavy Elements" pack, the second level pack will add three more achievements worth a total of 50G. This pack will release on November 30th and will also cost 240 MSP.

But only one DLC pack came out, 3 for 50G. There'll be another 3/50 in the future.

Hmm... They sell the game at a low price then offer packs with levels that could have been included in the original. If you buy all the packs, the total MSP cost would likely be quite high...

I really enjoyed this puzzle game and it's only $5. The first 170 is not difficult at all. The last 30 is tough but do-able and very rewarding. Give the trial a shot. It will either hook you or it won't right away.

Some people complained about this game when it first came out that it seemed to have "locked" content reserved for DLC. I'm not sure this is the case. The "heavy elements" and the "rare earth elements" sections of the periodic table were greyed out, but that doesn't mean the content was already created and in the game, but simply reserved for later content.

Given that the game is only 400msp, I can't see how people can complain. If both DLC packs are 240msp (not the 400msp I expected), this whole game is only 880msp. They could so easily have released the whole thing complete for 1200msp. Personally I think it's great value.

I thank those complainers however because it was only the curiosity that they sparked in me that led me to check this game out. I found a slick, intuitive, innovative, beautiful and addictive puzzle game that I'm very glad to have experienced.

240msp is an instabuy price for any DLC, not least for this great game.

Oh so that's where the rest of the game is. They even made it in three weeks. Impressive.

Yes, I suppose the price is acceptable but I just think it's quite misleading to sell a game at such a cheap price to get people to buy it then once you have their attention, give them more content meaning they eventually pay 800MSP.

If the game did release at 1200MSP, some people would be put off and just ignore it. If they sell it in cheap chunks then they are more likely to give it a chance. I'm not saying it's not worth 1200MSP, but it's just a good tactic to entice cusomters who think they are paying less but end up paying more in the long run.

At only 400MSP for the bulk of the game, 240 for each DLC is a great buy for such an awesomely addictive title. I would go so far to say it's definitely my favorite arcade of 2011.

Anyone know when the final 'Rare Earth Elements' DLC is being released?

Totally agree.

And I suggest re-reading the article. It was updated with the release date of the 2nd pack (November 30th) smile

You call it misleading they call it good marketing. As you said if they sell it cheap people will buy it for no other reason than it's cheap and they can which means that their making money whereas if they launched at 1200 or even maybe the 800 a lot of people would of either ignored it or just waited to get it on DotW in which case they would either be making no money on it (those who ignore it) or making more or less the amount they are now (those who wait for a reduction) however they'd be making less money in the long run as they would have missed the burst of initial sales that came with the lower price point.

As for ending up paying more in the long run, thats not really the case. Anyone that was expecting to pay 800 points fir it initially won't really be all that bothered by the game plus two DLC packs for an extra 80 points over what they initially expected to pay for the game.

Oh, that wasn't there before! :D I wonder if they have upped the ante on the new challenge mode? Challengium is the last achievement in the original arcade for me to get, quite a test of patience...

So these two DLCs will effectively be more than the game?
A shame, but if the content is substantial no trouble at all in the long run.
