Prestige Shop and CoD Elite's Compete Section
As we inch closer to the November release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, the news, screenshots, and trailers are ramping up in quantity. A few days ago we covered a new screen and Strike Packages trailer. Today, we have two trailers showcasing some new features in Modern Warfare 3.
The first has Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling showcasing the MW3's new Prestige Shop. Here's a quick synopsis and trailer.
Every time you prestige in MW3, you’ll receive a prestige token. Use it to unlock rewards like double XP for a limited time, an extra custom class, or choose one piece of gear from your custom class to keep unlocked from rank 1 of future prestiges.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDOwl0OYhM8&hd=1
Who knew that going prestige in previous Call of Duty titles would benefit you in Modern Warfare 3? Be sure the save the date of the weekend of October 27th so you can earn double XP in both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops, get to prestige faster, and earn future presitge tokens.
Another way the franchises are getting tied together, is with the Call of Duty: Elite service. In the following trailer, Beachhead Studios highlights the 'Compete' portion of Elite.

There's really something for everyone, whether you're a skilled veteran or just like playing casually with friends. There are both premium (paid) and free subscriptions to Elite, which you can find details about in our previous coverage. The Hardened Edition of Modern Warfare 3 comes with a year of the Elite Premium membership.
In case you didn't know, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launches worldwide November 8th.

I watch the MW stuff in the hope of something that makes me want to buy it, so its not just another CoD
From the perspective of a BF fan boy (i like BF more than CoD; apparently that makes me a fan boy and a heretic), i think the prestige token thing is a good idea, and survival, if unoriginal, is an excellent feature.
However, much as i want to find out the end of the story - the prospect of spinning tanks, bug eyed terrorists and Marines dressed as planes is just to much fun to pass up (i hope they left those bugs in)....oh and blowing stuff up, i like that |

I really like what they did with prestige. Although I dont understand why someone that went through all prestige's would want to reset it and do it all over again?
On a side note, Everytime I think I am done with this series, some small thing comes up where I find myself wanting the new COD game.
Oh Call of duty, why cant I quit you??? |

I prestiged exactly once in MW2 because it had a direct reward (an extra class slot, if I recall -- I've long since sold off the game). |
Potatoes are friggin' magical. Can you power an alarm clock with a carrot? No, sir. |

So if I understand and am counting correctly, if you've prestiged fully in each CoD so far. That gives you a grand total of 45 tokens to start off with in MW3
Holy crap.
I have 15, but who's counting |

| It's great that all the other Cod count towards the token system. Now 10th in the first MW doesnt seem like such a waste of time. |

I have 15, but who's counting I think what he was saying is that if you EVER prestiged in either Black ops or MW2, it will net you another token. Not a token for each time youve prestiged. |

| Wow, I have a whole token already!!! I don't think I'm going to be unlocking any of these tokens in Modern Warfare 3 however. |
Feel free to PM me about the GTA IV walkthrough, or any problems you're having with the game. |

I find it ironic that there is no mw3 fans, only bf3 children (I like both!) that says that if someone has another opinion then they, Then there "f***ing stupid" |

I love it! Spend months getting to 10th prestige, then reset it and start again.I just hope that you get a title or icon, to show people that you got to 10th and reset. |

| Well that needs clarification. If it's 1 token if you have previously prestiged that's a great way to repay loyalty to the franchise. If it's one for every time you have prestiged that's the most retarded thing ever as it means that all the modders and hackers from previous titles who got to Rank 10 prestige by cheating will be getting 10 tokens release day....... I love this series online, and i don't say that about many games, but hackers and modders ruin the MW and MW2 online experience. PLEASE do not let them do so again... |
