Bonuses:

This year we will be adding a new feature into the mix. Periodically we will be announcing bonuses that can be won by the teams for completing a specific milestone or accomplishment. There will be 7 bonuses in total, announced prior to the start of the period you may earn them in. They will each be worth 1000TA points for every team that successfully completes the requirements. Once the requirements are met, the team (any member) must state in this thread that they have completed the bonus (if the bonus does not specifically state otherwise). Each team that completes and confirms their bonus will be listed under the bonus they earn as well as have a notation on their page on the leaderboard showing how many bonuses they have stored. Bonuses are available for use the scoring period after they are earned... ie, no one may use the 'Bag a Bonus' offered in week 1. The first time it would be available for use would be as soon the 2nd scoring period starts. Bonuses can be 'cashed in' at any point in the week prior to the final hour of the scoring period and must be timestamped by TrueAchievements before that final hour begins in this thread. (11PM US Eastern) Any team member may claim a team bonus here. DON'T PANIC! Any bonuses used will be added to your teams total for that scoring period.

These are the other bonuses we are considering. I can't find a way to 'vote' for the most favorite ones, but if you would like, feel free to comment here in the thread which ones you favor - I'll keep track next to each bonus idea which ones get a +1 and use the 6 most popular as we progress in the competition.

There will be 6 more as we progress, feel free to vote for as many as 6 (or if you have an idea, please PM it to planting42 or WarmedxMints and we will include it for consideration if it isn't too difficult to track.

1. All 5 teammates finish the scoring period with the same TA gain - must be more than 0TA (each player must earn at least 1 achievement) - does not have to be declared in the thread, this will be awarded to all that earn it. (+14)
2. All 5 teammates must start and finish 3 arcade titles (excluding Kinect Fun Labs apps, Hasbro Family Game Night and Pinball FX 2) within the same scoring period. (+7)
3. The team must end the scoring period with an overall ratio of 2.0 or more - does not have to be declared in the thread, this will be awarded to all that earn it. (+21)
4. The team must end the scoring period with an overall ratio of 1.1 or less and finish in the top 50% - does not have to be declared in the thread, this will be awarded to all that earn it. (+11)
5. The team must gain at least 30,000 TA score overall by the end of the scoring period - does not have to be declared in the thread, this will be awarded to all that earn it. (+11)
6. The team must unlock at least 1,000 achievements by the end of the scoring period - does not have to be declared in the thread, this will be awarded to all that earn it. (+19)
7. All 5 teammates must unlock at least 1 achievement with a ratio of 4 or higher (as calculated at the end of the scoring period) - does not have to be declared in thread, this will be awarded to all that earn it. (+24)
8. Teams must have earned at least 1 of each badge from the start of the contest until the end of the month (meaning from the contest start until 4 scoring periods from now) - does not have to be declared in the thread, this will be awarded to all that earn it. This wouldn’t appear until around halfway through the contest. (+5)
9. Teams must have earned at least 5 of any 1 badge from the start of the contest until the end of the month (meaning from the contest start until 4 scoring periods from now) - does not have to be declared in the thread, this will be awarded to all that earn it. This wouldn’t appear until around halfway through the contest. (+4)
10. All 5 teammates must start and complete any retail title within the same scoring period with a ratio of 1.5 or higher (as calculated at the end of the scoring period - does not include DLC - only requires the original 1000 GS) (+17)
11. All 5 teammates must start and complete any arcade title (excluding Kinect Fun Labs apps, Hasbro Family Game Night and Pinball FX 2) within the same scoring period with a ratio of 1.7 or higher (as calculated at the end of the scoring period - does not include DLC - only requires the original 200 {or 250 in the case of Rock Band track packs or similar titles}) (+9)
12. The team must unlock at least 15,000 gamerscore overall by the end of the scoring period - does not have to be declared in the thread, this will be awarded to all that earn it. (+16)

This 'poll' will remain active until the contest starts on 1/1/12

While l like the idea of "starting and finishing" the same retail title in a period.. that seems highly unlikely for my team, so I wouldn't vote for it. =)

I have a few questions before I feel I can vote (also applicable to the 'Bag a Bonus')...

Question about #11:

A game like Hasbro Family Game Night ...it is an arcade game that is technically complete by just downloading the FGN hub, as all the 'games' are DLC. Are you counting each of the DLC as separate 'games'???

Other games you might want to be a little more specific about are:
Pinball FX 2
Age of Empires Online (PC) (TrueAchievements.com classification is arcade on this one)
Section 8: Prejudice (PC) (this game is 'retail' on (PC), 'arcade' on Xbox)
Alice: Madness Returns (Doesn't have 'original' 1000 GS, as 100 GS is classified onsite as DLC)
http://www.trueachievements.com/GRAW-xbox-360.htm (Only 925 GS when you exclude Title update DLC- not that anyone can start and finish this in a week)
Project Gotham Racing 3 (Two title update DLC's makes only 900 GS)

Question about #2, #10, #11:

Is it a safe assumption that you are classifying 'title' as meaning the same achievement list??? Meaning, you'd have to have all 5 members complete same game, same region, on the same platform???

Example:
All five team members start Your Shape: Fitness Evolved
Not four members start Your Shape: Fitness Evolved and one start Your Shape: Fitness Evolved (JP Ver)

Question about #1
Same TA gain??? Is this 'gross' or 'net'??? smile Is it a safe assumption that you mean the total difference between, for example, TA score week 3 and TA score week 2???

Hasbro Family Game Night & Pinball FX 2 will be added (shortly) to the list of exceptions (as with the Fun Labs apps.) If we are to ignore DLC as a whole, any achievement at all means that particular 'game' is complete... if nothing else, they are more worthy of exclusion than the Fun Labs apps.

Age of Empires Online (PC) does have it's own core set of achievements... whether they be 200 (or 2000) so should be considered a game (not that I would think anyone could complete the core of that one in a week.)

Any game that doesn't have a full 1000 (such as Condemned: Criminal Origins) or the other examples listed above... would only require the originally released total to be unlocked. (that means.. no title updates) In the case of PGR3, there are unobtainables, so the game would make a poor candidate)

Section 8: Prejudice (PC) is rightly a retail game. There is much more to do than its little brother Section 8: Prejudice. I've played both. They are appropriately marked on TA as retail and arcade respectively.

Example:
All five team members start Your Shape: Fitness Evolved
Not four members start Your Shape: Fitness Evolved and one start Your Shape: Fitness Evolved (JP Ver)
Correct

Question about #1: This means for example at the end of a scoring period each teammate has scored the exact same amount of TA. This is the same idea as 'Balancing Act' from last year. Remember when people tied each other's gains? Same thing x 5.

Votes above have been noted into the OP

As as aside, no hard feelings to people who are working on different versions of games.. instead of creating a game by game exception list for titles that have separate achievement lists, a single way to cover them all seemed simpler. There are too many occasions where a game may have a different set of achievements (or several different at least) between the different versions. Asking the retail game (or arcade if there are any that apply) to be the exact same achievement list for the intent of the bonus (all 5 do the exact same game) seemed appropriate.

9? - Aren't the badges awarded at the end of each period so if it was until the end of the month they could only get 4 badges of 1 type? I may be overlooking something here of course and getting ready to facepalm. Ah okay, re-reading it I think I get it. The announcement for that wouldn't be used until partway through the competition, right? So it would be from the start and over maybe 25 scoring periods or something?

#8 & 9 mention from contest start until the end of the month - they would be announced at the beginning of a month around halfway through the contest if selected.

So yes, there would have been at least 16 if not more scoring periods already.

All team members finishing the same game in the same time period seems silly considering the reason we made the teams 5 players was so members could go on vacations, etc, without screwing up the team, no?

To be honest... if you plan on having only 4 of 5 players cranking on points each and every week, you won't last. 5 teammates makes it easier when someone has to take a week off... its not a suggestion or a recommendation though. The contest will last for at least 45 weeks at least, there will likely be a few weeks where all teammates won't play together.. but in general I would expect most teams will be together most weeks.

These bonuses are a one time shot.. just like the one displayed for week one. You can only win it in week one. The week the bonus is displayed is the only time it is winnable.
