Trials HD developer joins the publishing powerhouse
RedLynx, best known for their XBLA hit Trials HD, have been acquired by Ubisoft. Yves Guillemot, chief executive officer at Ubisoft, spoke on the topic of the acquisition: The team at RedLynx has developed exceptionally strong digital brands that stand out for their high replay value, their long tail sales and their multiplatform positioning. We are delighted to welcome RedLynx to the Ubisoft family. Their expertise in asynchronous online games and physics-based game mechanics provides us with a great opportunity to bring their powerful brands, most notably Trials, to an even broader range of fast-growing digital platforms. This acquisition positions Ubisoft to increase their presence in the realm of digital distribution. RedLynx's next title, Trials Evolution, is set to release in the next few months, now under the Ubisoft banner.

| Hopefully this will lead to future Trials games coming to other platforms. I am eagerly anticipating what RedLynx can do with more funding and the marketing powerhouse of Ubisoft. Congrats to the developers, they certainly earned it. |

| Man, this is so disappointing. Hopefully the team stays together and doesn't get a massive hit of corporate brainwashing.... |

| That quote sounds like it was meant for shareholders, not gamers. Talking about "long tail sales", "multiplatform positioning", and "powerful brands" doesn't exactly bolster confidence that they will avoid compromising gameplay and entertainment value for the sake of the bottom line. |

Sure hope Ubisoft keeps their hands off and lets RedLynx do what they do. |

I dont like the sound of this. Usually i am all for take overs. As usually it's a good partnership. eg. Rare
Not sure i like the sound of thid partnership/ownership. |

| This is great for Trials, IMO. Ubisoft can handle all of the sales/distro stuff and RedLynx can focus on gameplay. I don't get the fascination with truly independent studios, since they can easily fold with one miss. |

| Very happy with this. More money and resources is always a good thing for developers, will only make Red Lynx's games better imo. |

Wow, WTF!
Microsoft really dropped the ball on this one.
Why wouldn't they keep their most popular XBLA game exclusive and buy the company???
They buy Twisted Pixel but pass on RedLynx; makes NO sense to me... |

If Ubi promotes them correctly it will only boost their brand. Kind of becoming a competition again snagging smaller developers after EA got Popcap.
Hopefully it doesn't lead to many problems happening along the way... |

They buy Twisted Pixel but pass on RedLynx; makes NO sense to me...Maybe RedLynx didn't want platform exclusivity anymore and were looking to bring their ideas to a far larger audience? Remember, the small 3rd party developers have goals just as the big publishers do. |
